In your head, which sounds better?

Have always wondered about that, WAS the JD track an answer song to the C&T one?

i have a strange feeling that captain's voice is not that different than ian's voice (did he take any vocals on C&T's records?)

joy division doing "muskrat lov", now THAT i'd like to hear

latebloomer aka 'the sun' (latebloomer), Tuesday, 19 September 2006 02:55 (nineteen years ago)

Where's the mashup?

Ficky Stingers (Bimble...), Tuesday, 19 September 2006 04:42 (nineteen years ago)

It was already done -- the Swinging Erudites did a medley combining the two back in 1988 or so.

More on said act. Not deathless, and yet.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 19 September 2006 04:52 (nineteen years ago)

my college radio station had a copy of that. it was... about as good as it needed to be.

Precisely.

If you play the Paul Young version of "Love will tear us apart" at 45rpm, it'd probably sound like Toni Tennille.

I tried that back in '83. It sounded like Brother Beyond.

I think the Captain & Tennille version of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" would have to have a recorder solo in the middle.

Joe (Joe), Thursday, 21 September 2006 00:40 (nineteen years ago)

One of my longtime best friends recently told me that her favorite song ever was "Love Will Keep Us Together." It was quite odd because I had just decided that "Love Will Tear Us Apart" was mine.

Tape Store (Tape Store), Thursday, 21 September 2006 02:34 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think that Captain & Tenille would have any trouble with "Love Will Tear Us Apart." They could recast it like one of the tragedy-struck Carpenters ballads.

Hearing Ian Curits go "Stop -- 'coz I really love you" or "I WILL! I WILL! I WILL!"--much tougher to reconcile.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Thursday, 21 September 2006 02:42 (nineteen years ago)

The former. Joy Division cover versions are always rubbish - without Hannett's out-there production the songs just don't stand up.

i still say my "muskrat love" suggestion stands. somebody invent a time machine, pronto!

seven years pass...

Until Thursday, January 16th, 2014, when Toni Tennile met with a DIVORCE ATTORNEY, in Phoenix, AZ, everything relating to THE CAPTAIN & TENNILLE appeared to the public as them being the ideal model for a "rock-solid' married pair. But almost all people naturally evolve over time, & sometimes hidden feelings start to be uncovered when one may read, just a little more into (the popularized, substitute heading appearing just below), stating, for instance: `'MUSIC HAS KEPT THEM TOGETHER"

one year passes...

I am bummed love did not keep them together:

Tennille filed for divorce from Dragon in the State of Arizona on January 16, 2014, after 39 years of marriage. Dragon was unaware of this until he was served with the divorce papers. The divorce documents referenced health insurance or health issues, and Tennille had written on her blog in 2010 that Dragon's neurological condition, similar to Parkinson’s, was characterized by such extreme tremors he could no longer play keyboards.

Their best song in a terrific live performance. Actually it's HER best song, all hers. Vulnerable yet absolute. The "Captain" off on his Gilligan's Island of A Synthesizer Bank didn't deserve her.

three years pass...

In honor of the Captain's passing.
