So the return of the #% Dynamite series with the focus narrowed a bit (but now including assorted dubstep and junglism and yardcore stuff). Apparently a Bug/Lady Sov track is on here. Anyone got a tracklist or a street date?

It comes out October 26th acc. to Amazon.

That's right around the time the Incredible Bongo Band reissue comes out. Jesus.

I'm just waiting for the flood of Shinehead reissues. Hopefully these comps will blow the horn for them.

4. The Bug feat Feat Warrior Queen
5. Anthony Red Rose
6. Richie Spice (is this the DMZ remix?)

What flood of Shinehead reissues? Are his albums out of print? I see all of them except the first in bargain bins everywhere (admittedly the Rough & Rugged is the one with "Billie Jean".)

OH FUCKING YES!!

(although this has come out about 3 years too late).

I just got this in yesterday's mail, but the track listing doesn't show up in iTunes and the cover only has a list of artists that's shorter than the track listing (that is, some artists have multiple tracks and based on first listen there's at least one vocal version/dub version pairing). So anybody who can puzzle it together for me, I'd really appreciate it.

I don't think it's the fabled Richie Spice remix, but 'Earth A Run Red' is by Digital Mystikz (it's one of their older efforts)

Shinehead stuff is out of print, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's unavailable or hard to find -- at least yet. However, you can't just go to any major retailer and expect to buy any Shinehead album you want.

We're just starting to see the beginning of the "wow, it's a bit hard to find Shinehead stuff now" thing... if nothing's done about it, these will become eBay fodder in the next few years.

Wait...people give a shit about Shinehead now? I bought one of his albums (Unity?) when it was new, listened to it once or twice, encountered him again on a Sly & Robbie album produced by Bill Laswell disc (Rhythm Killers?) and haven't thought about him since.

OK, I found a track listing online at soulseduction.com, and it listed the artists, but the running order was totally wrong. Based on actually listening to the disc, here's what I've got so far...

3. Anthony Red Rose - Tempo
4. ? (Instrumental)
5. Tippa Irie - All The Time
6. Powerman - Right Ya So
7. Dillinger - Dub Plate Special
8. Lady Saw - Mi Ting Deh
9. ? (Instrumental)
10. Kiprich - Certified Murderer
11. The Bug Feat. Warrior Queen - Dem A Bomb We
12. ? (Instrumental)
13. Anthony Red Rose - Under Mi Fat Ting
14. Pompidou - Governor General
15. Lady Saw - Sweetest
16. King Baucho And Beenie Man - Weed And Grabba
17. Shinehead - Billie Jean
18. Michigan And Smiley - Jah Lick We
19. Wayne Junior - Police And Bad Boy
20. ? (Female vocal - Cecile? [she's listed on the promo cover] - track title unknown)
21. King Tubby - Fade Out

So no Lady Sov track after all :(

The original Digital Mystikz "Earth A Run Red" (which is uh not so great) has the Richie Spice vocal hook playing very faintly. The Marijuana Refix, which is the one people were going apeshit over, uses the full vocal, I believe, but I haven't heard it yet. Either way the original Richie Spice version is better than any of them (and better than the Jacky Murda and Liondub versions too, IIRC.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 19 September 2006 14:23 (nineteen years ago)

And apparently it is the 'original' "Earth A Run Red" which is too bad cuz there are better DMZ choons.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 19 September 2006 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

"Wait...people give a shit about Shinehead now?"

Haha no. Seriously there is a stack of copies of all his Elektra at Amoeba selling for $2 and no one seems to have touched them for ages.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 19 September 2006 14:34 (nineteen years ago)

Yer- "Earth A Run Red" is a rare DMZ duffer. Ought to have had "Blue Notes" thats weird-step par excellence, with horn riffs and stuff... kind of halfway between 2step and halfstep...
