I didn't even realize this was MCR the first couple times I heard it, though the voice should have tipped me off. I was worried at first that they'd fallen on the wrong side of the pomp-pop line with this, and I miss the slightly more distorted sound, but the chorus is catchy and the breakdown (Brian May guitar!) is great. The marching band drums are a nice touch too. I thought of a more tuneful Mellon Collie-era Pumpkins aside from the Queen and Meat Loaf reference points people tend to bring up. Less of the apparent Fugazi/Sunny Day influence. I don't like their new look though.

I'll amend that to add "or at least care enough to seriously discuss their music."
I don't like it as much as "Helena" or "I'm Not OK" but I still think it's a cool single, though I could see it becoming a little much if it gets overplayed. Between this and "Knights of Cydonia," this has been some year for OTT ambitious rock pomp. (This video's at least ugly than that one.)

I think something people haven't mentioned really is how this would completely fall apart without the middle pop-punk section. It has a nice grounding effect on the song.
