Radiohead Song Poll: March Madness Style!

No--don't worry, it's not yet another ILM poll. This one's being handled by the folks over at Merry Swankster.

Radiohead Song Poll

I have to say this is pretty clever and took a bit more planning than the recent rash of ILM polls. They've broken Radiohead album tracks into four brackets (Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Pixies, and Roxy Music) of 16 songs each, a la the NCAA basketball tournament (aka March Madness). Some of the head-to-head matchups are pretty intriguing, and by breaking it out into brackets, we'll most likely have a final showdown between experimental vs. standard rock Radiohead.

Vote early and often: One shining moment...

Pop is dead.

this would be a really good idea to do with a band with more than one good song! PAGING TOM

lex pretend, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 07:51 (nineteen years ago)

Lex: no - don't see what purpose it wd serve that the canon polls don't already really!

What is Radiohead's good song?

Groke, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 07:53 (nineteen years ago)

'lucky'!

i also really love the opening bar of 'everything in its right place', those descending electric piano chords, before yorke starts singing

lex pretend, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 07:55 (nineteen years ago)

I don't understand the Roxy Music reference. For me, Radiohead don't sound much like Roxy Music at all. They did at times sound a lot like Pink Floyd though, so I can see that one.

And how about the U2 bracket?

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 10:47 (nineteen years ago)

Or the Jeff Buckley bracket?

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 16 May 2007 10:47 (nineteen years ago)

I think the Roxy Music bracket is their "glam" side? There is a reason they played as Venus In Furs on the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack.

I don't bother with the first knockout rounds, as other than "Creep" all their best stuff was either on "OK Computer" or "The Bends".

So, here's straight to the bracket winners:
Subterranean Homesick Alien Vs. Let Down
Exit Music (For a Film) Vs. Airbag

Final
Let Down Vs. Exit Music For a Film

Exit Music (For a Film) wins

What kind of Radiohead poll doesn't consider "Paranoid Android" one of their 65 best songs?

Cosmo Vitelli, Thursday, 17 May 2007 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

omfg the wool has been pulled over all of our eyes :(

ok, kick out 'how do you' and rep. with 'paranoid android', then vote for it.

Just got offed, Thursday, 17 May 2007 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't notice that one missing either. Would have if it had been my favourite (it isn't), but it would have gone very far. Didn't fit into any of those categories, I guess.
