Some goodly soul posted video from an Italian TV show of the T Heads 1980 show in Rome. The Stop Making Sense version of Crosseyed and Painless is great but the version from the 1980 show is insanely great. QED.
BTW, don't miss the Rome show versions of Drugs and Cities.

It's all cause of Belew! That's usually the reason cited. Didn't Byrne dither about wether he should be the 5th member officialy, or not and so he went off with..who was it? King Crimson?

Yes, King Crimson. Who he made sound more like Talking Heads somewhat.

― pisces, Monday, 9 July 2007 09:36 (eighteen years ago)
no, dither is the right word there.

Oh, I think maybe you re-read Didn't Byrne dither as David Byrne dither, which of course should be corrected to dithered.

How come no one has yet stated the obvious: that Tina Weymouth is absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS in these videos?

Is that Bernie Worrell on keyboards and Busta Cherry Jones on bass? And who is the female backing vocalist?
― curmudgeon, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 04:48 (eighteen years ago)
Oh it's Dollette Mcdonald and I think Steve Stanley on percussion.

the rumour in that kinda bad talking heads biog from a few years back re: belew was that the other three were growing increasingly resentful of byrne and eno being so pally, and they actually asked belew to REPLACE byrne as frontman! which is pretty bonkers really.

then frantz and weymouth basically took stuff that he'd jammed with them and turned it into tom tom club tracks without his knowledge, the relationship cooled a bit after that. way to go, dudes.

I think Byrne had the last laugh when they released that The Heads album

Yes, Nubbelwhatever, she looks great--i hate to quote you tube comments, and this isn't very liberated of me to note, but check her out at around :17 grooving to the beat...really, really hot (i'm tempted to start a hot chick bass player thread but there must be at least a dozen..)
