Without them, this incredible thread could not have existed:

John Petrucci brings you...ROCK DISCIPLINE (a picture thread if the pictures can fit)

Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 12 July 2007 16:34 (eighteen years ago)

bands i don't listen to most often cited by metal bands that i DO listen to as a big influence: tool, melvins, dream theater.

scott seward, Thursday, 12 July 2007 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

I'm really surprised you don't listen to the Melvins Scott as I always sort of pictured you as a guy wearing a Melvins shirt.

filthy dylan, Thursday, 12 July 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

it is kinda surprising.

scott seward, Thursday, 12 July 2007 17:43 (eighteen years ago)

the singer probably ruins the band for me more than anything. he's got one of those trained voices that sounds stale and by-the-numbers.

petrucci, despite being a clown, is my only reason to listen to dream theater and find them mildly entertaining

Charlie Howard, Thursday, 12 July 2007 19:46 (eighteen years ago)

while absentminded, it's kinda cosy easy to mix up their name with dream academy's...

(the greater the disappointment afterwards, 'fcourse)

t**t, Thursday, 12 July 2007 20:07 (eighteen years ago)

Ditto for Dream Syndicate.

Also the other great thread, Pashmina's minute-by-minute deconstruction of one of their LPs. Which I'm not going to search for.

Pashmina encounters Dream Theater

Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 12 July 2007 20:57 (eighteen years ago)

marmotwolof, Thursday, 12 July 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

marmot yer oi so controversial!

t**t, Thursday, 12 July 2007 21:07 (eighteen years ago)

you lack rock discipline

marmotwolof, Thursday, 12 July 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

heh? how would you kno what kind of discipline i lack?

("dream" and "theatre" not acceptable as words used in the answer)

t**t, Thursday, 12 July 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

no I mean you lack "Rock Discipline" the John Petrucci instructional DVD

marmotwolof, Thursday, 12 July 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

oh. you are correct 'bout that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dream_Theater&diff=next&oldid=144320896 can you guys help me out here?

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 13 July 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

"In mid-1990, at a gig in New York, Dream Theater introduced Steve Stone as their new singer. He performed just three songs with the band before he was fired for performing less than adequately."

I think that's pretty cool

akm, Friday, 13 July 2007 04:42 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, they fired him ON STAGE?! That's the greatest thing I've ever heard.

marmotwolof, Friday, 13 July 2007 04:58 (eighteen years ago)

Hahahah Curtis how many times have you tried to revert the Wiki entry at this point? =)

Trayce, Friday, 13 July 2007 05:01 (eighteen years ago)

Being known for their significant sexual versatility, Dream Theater has performed a diverse range of acts. Sodomy, fellatio, cunnilingus, pederasty, masturbation...

marmotwolof, Friday, 13 July 2007 05:03 (eighteen years ago)

two years pass...

This has to be one of the most vandalized band wiki entries out there.

four years pass...

I read this press release "DREAM THEATER To Be Joined By The Esteemed BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC At The Boston Opera House On Tuesday, March 25" as meaning the entire Berklee College of Music would be performing with the band, which could be the only way to get me to see Dream Theater.

six months pass...

I for one am fully happy to blame this behavior on his choice of music

Ned, I normally have nothing but love for you and am definitely not a Dream Theater apologist by any means, but c'mon.

Allow me my unproven by science hyperbole.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 29 July 2014 16:11 (eleven years ago)

Alright, I suppose you've yet to reach your annual quota. Case dismissed.
