Are New Buffalo getting big now? I remember when Tim F. got me to pick up their first EP when I visited Melbourne five years back...

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 28 October 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

oh god, these are atrocious.

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 28 October 2007 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

lol The Dey. i stump for T-Pain enough, I'll vote for Paramore, they're pretty good.

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 28 October 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

i like a few of these better, but the idea of paramore becoming a huge band actually does excite me.

Denise Lasalle and scores of other chitlin circuit soul singers are as good or better than Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, but since the Dap Kings are based in Brooklyn and send more promos to New York magazines and indie-rock sites, guess who makes the list.

curmudgeon, Sunday, 28 October 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

I saw New Buffalo last night and was quite smitten.

Davey D, Sunday, 28 October 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

The DEY? Sorry, but I couldn't read past there.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 00:20 (eighteen years ago)

I guess I shouldn't pass judgment, but I only know him from his awful clumsy rap on the awful clumsy Paula DeAnda song.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 00:24 (eighteen years ago)

Robyn is the only one I know, and she isn't worth voting for.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

I feel differently about T-Pain after seeing that Showtime Pizza Theatre animatronic robot singalong clip on YouTube; synching up a vocoder track to a robotic singing bear's jerky movements shouldn't be so emotionally haunting, but it is.

Drew Daniel, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 01:11 (eighteen years ago)

i quite liked new buffalo's early stuff but i saw her last year supporting vashti bunyan and thought her new songs were really really boring.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

I love Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, but haven't they been around for, like, twenty years?

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 02:31 (eighteen years ago)

they only just got exciting

mookieproof, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 02:34 (eighteen years ago)

surely not, except for jones, band looks early 30s at best
