Being the only one on this board for years to bring up (and rave about) Badawi (aka Raz Mesinai) was frustrating cuz no one else ever commented.
But, recently I found some interest here and there on ILM, so I'm starting this thread. Also, because Badawi is touring North America(for the first time?) next month.

I'm not at all sure what form Badawi will be live (ie. dj set[I hope not]? Badawi Quartet? full band?) The tour is with Meat Beat Manifesto, which doesn't do it for me. Still, whatever it is, my wife and I are making the 5 hour trek to Chicago to see it.

i luv badawi!! i listened to little else in 1996, and saw him live with "honeychild" at bang the party, after that had moved from frank's lounge in brooklyn to the east village
i have to say the singer was a big part of the attraction for me, i hope she's still involved somehow

three weeks pass...
Has anyone seen the live Raz Mesinai (Badawi) over the last week? I got a note from him last week that it was "solo", but that there would be a lot going on.

nine years pass...
Listening to Soldier of Midian from '01 after hearing a track on a mix, it's sick. Love it rides the line between mostly live instrumentation, but juuust enough electronic sound design and structure so it's a little uncanny.
Looking forward to checking out his other work, recommendations?

Hmmm the other records I'm checking out sound more dated, even the more recent ones. Oh well, this one rules.
