Fer Ark, Sunday, 30 March 2008 00:51 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, but is Kevin Shields playing with Seefeel? That would be news...

inhibitionist, Sunday, 30 March 2008 00:54 (eighteen years ago)

Aw fk . I cArnt spell dood.

It wil be great though won';t it. The Sheilds guy that i'm on about plays a mean droning didge. a ree do

Fer Ark, Sunday, 30 March 2008 00:58 (eighteen years ago)

This would be my dream gig--if it were 1993. Still, if it materializes, it will be great, I'm sure.

inhibitionist, Sunday, 30 March 2008 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

if it materializes

this ^^^^

stephen, Sunday, 30 March 2008 01:59 (eighteen years ago)

if so, will it be the L.a. band or the MBV dood?

Mackro Mackro, Sunday, 30 March 2008 02:04 (eighteen years ago)

I'm new here, (inebriated), and god knows share your taste, but why do I get the feeling music died for many of us in 1994?

derelict, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:07 (eighteen years ago)

when did seefeel get back together?

keythkeyth, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:32 (eighteen years ago)

why do I get the feeling music died for many of us in 1994?

Faulty thinking on your part.

Music's fucking ALIVE and firing on ALL cylinders as far as I'm concerned, mate.

inhibitionist, Sunday, 30 March 2008 04:36 (eighteen years ago)

when did seefeel get back together?

Yeah, I had no idea either. I'm not sure how successful the Quique reissue was commercially, but maybe the widespread critical acclaim for it along with a growing acknowledgement of their influence on electronic music since its release convinced them to play some more shows.

And Kevin Shields on guitar. That sounds fantastic, especially if I get a chance to see them, but part of me wants to be like "hey Kevin Shields, why don't you get back in the studio and finally finish that fucking MBV album before my balls explode"

Z S, Sunday, 30 March 2008 04:43 (eighteen years ago)

someone else told me slowdive were touring which I think is completely untrue. is it possible everyone is just confusing this with the (very real) Swervedriver tour?

akm, Sunday, 30 March 2008 07:22 (eighteen years ago)

I would like it better if it were the band Kevin Shields playing with Seefeel: http://www.myspace.com/kkevinsshields

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 30 March 2008 07:25 (eighteen years ago)

i don't want swervedriver to reunite. maybe they are mistakingly thinking of mat from revolver's new band the deep cut, they're horrid.

keythkeyth, Sunday, 30 March 2008 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

well swervedriver ARE reuiniting, they're playing NY and LA next month

akm, Sunday, 30 March 2008 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, make it stop. Make it all stop.

The past! It's over!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 31 March 2008 09:10 (eighteen years ago)

Im glad that Kev Shields is getting his stuff out there again, though that stuff he did with Thurston Moore wasn't too exciting (though might be $$$ collectors items). While I have a lot of nostalgia for MVB, I'd be fine leaving them in 93. Swervedriver wasn't so hot to begin with. Mark Clifford was doing some interesting stuff up through Disjecta, but then disappeared. Recently he did a split ep with someone else. So, yeah, Im glad those artists are out there doing their thing, but it's not such hallowed ground these days, imo.

The Mark Clifford collaboration record with Simon Kealoha that came out a couple of years back is very good.

Bill in Chicago, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

there's been a bunch of stuff on Polyfusia in the last few years (ok, 4 things)

one year passes...

seefeel in the studio, apparently.

in the meantime, the collaboration between mira calix and mark clifford is very lovely indeed.

djh, Tuesday, 1 December 2009 17:07 (sixteen years ago)

Seefeel have done one or two new remixes in the past year. One for School of Seven Bells, can't remember the other.

plazzTT, Tuesday, 1 December 2009 17:36 (sixteen years ago)

five months pass...

There's a new EP and LP coming out on Warp "late summer". Just Sarah Peacock and Mark Clifford from the original lineup: http://www.warpedrealitymagazine.com/2010/04/the_return_of_seefeel.html

holy shit i have dreamed of seeing Seefeel live.

Francis Scott Key 7th Path (Stevie D), Monday, 3 May 2010 20:08 (sixteen years ago)

That blog post is 2 weeks old and the Primavera date it mentions them wanting to build more dates around is in 3 weeks. Anyone know of any more? Please post here if you find some out!

(I heard they were doing Primavera already but I couldn't go so I told myself "well, it wouldn't be the same 20 years later, better to imagine you saw them back then" etc etc, but I am encouraged by DJ Scotch Egg on bass, as his other band Drum Eyes gave probably the best live show I saw last year - may not actually mean anything, but hey)

Mildly on-topic: just out of curiosity, how do y'all rate Sneakster? I'm quite close with the vocalist from that particular project, and I think it's lovely but I don't gather that she's much of a fan. P.S. She's doing sketch and improv in Chicago now. Quite the career path.

Absolutely gutted: Seefeel are playing Brighton next Wednesday, and then London the day after - and I'm away in a remote cottage in Scotland!

Hope other people can enjoy it though.

It used to be called 'Sumo'. It's on Middle Street, next to the Media Centre.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 8 September 2010 12:32 (fifteen years ago)

Aha! Thanks for the heads-up btw, this would have just passed me by.

jesper olsen twins (NickB), Wednesday, 8 September 2010 12:33 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, I'd completely missed it until a friend handed me the flyer.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 8 September 2010 12:34 (fifteen years ago)

Wow, I really hated the first 30 sec of that song but by the end I'm completely loving it.

I JUST NEED TO SING "CRAZY FOR YOU" TO KNOW HOW MY HEART FEELS (Stevie D), Wednesday, 8 September 2010 13:46 (fifteen years ago)

Did anyone go to any of these gigs? How was it?

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 20 September 2010 09:51 (fifteen years ago)

Was all set for this, but I had *KILLER TOOTHACHE* which totally incapacitated me (wisdom tooth extraction later today, oh joy)

jesper olsen twins (NickB), Monday, 20 September 2010 10:18 (fifteen years ago)

Saw them play at the ICA. It was awesome, one of my favourite shows of the year so far. New stuff sounded just as good as the old stuff.

koogs, Wednesday, 15 June 2011 15:28 (fourteen years ago)

The new record grew on me quite a bit. Sad to hear their NYC show is cancelled; I was fully planning to go.

Clarke B., Wednesday, 15 June 2011 15:35 (fourteen years ago)

whats the story behind the cancellation?

(not that i recall them having a TX show lined up anyway..)

i genuinely thought when i first joined that he was the admin (ilxor), Sunday, 19 June 2011 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

official statement:

Seefeel and Warp are extremely saddened to announce the cancellation of Seefeel's US tour. Bureaucratic hoop-jumping beyond the band's control is unfortunately to blame, and the fans will have to suffer for it. Again, we're so very sorry to disappoint you all with this news and hopefully fans can bear with the band a while longer before the US tour (which they very much want to happen) can occur without any snags.
