Elton has been gay for ages (out, I mean..), even when he was married to renate. But his songs have generally been more 'everyman' anthems than explorations of his own psyche (especially as Bernie wroter the wordser), it took until "I want love" and that album the name escapes me, before that became the default standpoint for himself.

Whereas Fred, gorblessem, always sung from his own position about himself. Sure, his private life is his own affair, but its sad that even in his last days he'd sing about settling down and living life through kids, and his audience were all going "mm, righto Fred"...

Gypsy Woman because I LOVED that song at the time.

"Gypsy Woman" is among the songs I have hated most of all of all time. Extremely annoying repetitive "La-ba-dee, la-ba-daoooo". Let RCCL keep Labadee to themselves!

problem is though that the KLF will geta split vote across their 3 classics giving the chance of some other shyte grabbing the top spot.
of course the answer is Justified and Ancient, but can i please have a multiple option vote so i can drop a tick on the other KLF tracks cos they are all brilliant ?

Sorry Shamen, "You Got the Love" and the Prodigy, but it's gotta be the KLF. But which of the three...? So tough!

This was the year I started caring about pop and despite some unutterable shite on the list it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. The Scorpions seem kind of out of place at 22nd. Are these in order?

My faves at the time were The Source, Nomad, Last Train To Transcentral, Oceanic, Prodigy, Shamen and James. And the Clash but seems wrong to vote for them in a 1991 poll.

So I voted for "Last Train to Trancentral" and now feel kind of bad for "Move Any Mountain" and "Justified and Ancient", but I'm sure the latter at least will receive plenty of votes. "Charly" is obviously classic too but too overshadowed by "Out of Space" for my vote, whereas '91 has the KLF at the top of their game.

I don't think that made any sense, but still.

The bass drop alone on "Charly" wins this for me.

i originally had 3am Eternal ticked, but then saw "Chorus" in the list and had to vote for that, as I have a strange, inexplicable attachment to what I consider Erasure's finest moment (ok, maybe outside of "Rock Me Gently")
