There's no good reason for this to be a poll, but this is a cool record. Take-6 record label put out comps for radio stations for promo. http://www.bsnpubs.com/la/take6/take6.html

This one is for Houston, came out in 1968, and has a couple of songs that weren't easy to come by. I was excited to finally hear the Moving Sidewalks and to get a copy of "Don't Touch Me" by Jeannie Seely when I bought this years ago at a resale shop.

"Don't Touch Me" was written by Seely's then Husband Hank Cochran ("I Fall to Pieces", "Make the World Go Away") and Buck Owens wanted it but Seely got it first. Tammy Wynette did it for Five Easy Pieces movie.

I used to hate Bob Lind's "Elusive Butterfly" but it sounds like stalker psycho pop now.

"Sweet Thang" is crazy with the female part maybe a non female falsetto?

Talk about old comps or songs or something.

Oooh, I have this one! Luv the Elevators setting up the Clique's cover.

I'd never realized that "Splash 1" was an Elevators cover, or made the connection that The Clique were also the band that did "Superman"

Today I'm listening to 24 Original Happening Hits. Telerad label but maybe licensed from Columbia. http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/jimmythek_bucket/groovygoodtimes.jpg

this one is not really local to anything, so the selections are more mainstream. The even older oldies for the time are at the end of each side (this was released late 60's to early 70's). I read an article one time, maybe by D.Marsh, explaining how there was a first (pre-Happy Days) oldies boom at some point when doo-wop records got re-released.

Yeah, the Doo-Wop Revival in the early 60s, a byproduct of which was the first "Oldies But Goodies" comps.

BTW, according to the liner notes to Never Ever Land, the female part on "Sweet Thing" was done by none other than a young K.T. Oslin
