Autotune as in extreme robot-effect type autotune? That'd probably sound cool. I've used autotune for pitch correction on a trombone before, it sounded pretty normal.

regular old pitch correction - something's flat or sharp, autotune locks it onto the scale without anybody noticing

the other stuff being done with autotune at present is like when Ike Turner noticed that the hole in his speaker cone actually made the speaker sound cool

easy, free way to simulate this on your home computer:
(a) find a recording with a good stretch of solo trombone(b) run through an off-brand pitch-correction VST
