mainly for lil jon screaming DALE! DALE! but also cause dude basically rips the first verse

one thousand BIG HOOS raging and pounding (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Sunday, 26 April 2009 08:55 (seventeen years ago)

Voted "Toma". Problem with "The Anthem" is that I'd rather just listen to "Mami el Negro" and/or "Calabria".

it ain't trickin' if you raggett (The Reverend), Sunday, 26 April 2009 08:57 (seventeen years ago)

There are so many defensible picks here tho. I'd probaly even include "The Anthem" in that.

it ain't trickin' if you raggett (The Reverend), Sunday, 26 April 2009 08:58 (seventeen years ago)

probably!!!

ok the best one is "dammit man" for WHEN I PUT IT IN THEY MOUTH I GOT THEM MAMIS SAYIN DUHNUHNUHNUH

^^these 5 are so incredible

kl0mpus (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 April 2009 23:05 (seventeen years ago)

his newer stuff... idk "the anthem" will always pale in comparison to "calabria" for me and "krazy" is good but ehhh

"calle ocho" or w/e is awesome tho, <3 speedy pitbull raps

kl0mpus (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 April 2009 23:06 (seventeen years ago)

also an honorable mention for having the most underrated verse in the history of dj khaled singles

kl0mpus (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 30 April 2009 23:09 (seventeen years ago)

i was also just thinking that i admire him for sticking to his guns and not falling back on some jim jonsin bleep bloop ringtone single to try and breakthrough even tho the two of them go way back

COOOOOL i'll give her sausage

lex pretend, Thursday, 30 April 2009 23:29 (seventeen years ago)

'the anthem' > 'calabria' b/c it's essentially 'calabria' with added pitbull being awesome. "you see me with your girls, you started to flirt => back of the club, hand up her skirt"

lex pretend, Thursday, 30 April 2009 23:31 (seventeen years ago)

the 'hit the floor' is so so so insane. 'bojangles' too. the best pitbull singles are just so amazingly physical. i still can't come close to choosing

lex pretend, Thursday, 30 April 2009 23:32 (seventeen years ago)

* 'hit the floor' beat

lex pretend, Thursday, 30 April 2009 23:32 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Friday, 1 May 2009 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah I didn't make up my mind in time to vote.

"Krazy" is at least an odd/interesting move, if I'd heard it out of context I would have thought it was Armand Van Helden.

I can't decide b/w "The Anthem" and "Calabria". I think the beat is a little better-sounding on the latter and there's something so inspired about the rapping e.g. "play with it a likkle..."

Tim F, Friday, 1 May 2009 23:08 (seventeen years ago)

Didn't see this poll. :(

Alex in SF, Friday, 1 May 2009 23:32 (seventeen years ago)

I love the rapping on "Calabria" so much. Pitbull never quite connects on his version imo.

Styles Davis (The Reverend), Saturday, 2 May 2009 07:24 (seventeen years ago)

Who voted for "Dime"?

Styles Davis (The Reverend), Saturday, 2 May 2009 07:25 (seventeen years ago)

i hadn't really been feeling any of the singles off the next album but 'floor on fire' has me hyped for it again.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN BOUT

lex pretend, Monday, 11 May 2009 10:46 (seventeen years ago)

id like to hear funky sound more like that tune. ie more hype.

Would people please stop referring to Pitbull as a reggaeton artist? Even if he does incorporate some (relatively minor) elements of reggaeton into his music, it's factually untrue. *continues ranting at ceiling*

grime too, but then again i hate all people that aren't americans

fuck wit trey day (and everybody's celebratin') (The Reverend), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 02:44 (seventeen years ago)

and new york is just as important a center of reggaeton as san juan. grime doesn't work as a parallel at all, and that's even before you get into the language issues

fuck wit trey day (and everybody's celebratin') (The Reverend), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 02:48 (seventeen years ago)

none of which changes the fact that Pitbull isn't reggaeton

fuck wit trey day (and everybody's celebratin') (The Reverend), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 02:48 (seventeen years ago)

hey btw ive never heard a pitbull song besides "i know you want me" so i'm basically just trolling here

is it ok to oscarbait 'million dollar baby'? (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 02:51 (seventeen years ago)

when i was working at this mexican place two summers ago they'd always play reggaeton in the morning before we opened and i was like "man this fucking music all sounds the same" and then i found out a few months later that it was just the same playlist every day

let free dom ring (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 02:52 (seventeen years ago)

kev there are so many classic pitbull singles

seriously

is "i know you want me" one of them?

is it ok to oscarbait 'million dollar baby'? (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 02:59 (seventeen years ago)

i think it's great (i seem to be in the minority, based on jukebox at least) but no it's not one of his classic singles

then again i guess it's not "his" track technically

The Collected Works of Fun Fun (donna rouge), Wednesday, 12 August 2009 21:51 (sixteen years ago)

his stuff has gotten progressively derivative and weak.

i wanted to like the boatlift, didn't happen

calle ocho is this close to cringeworthy, a nail in the coffin as far as i'm concerned

fauxmarc, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 23:48 (sixteen years ago)

i haven't been feeling the singles following "krazy," but then I wish Pitbull would just make a whole album with Lil Jon. He's such a good hype man for Pit. Maybe get Nivea and the Ying Yang Twins in on it for some kind of batshit belated crunk response to the black eyed peas.

that song is a banger imo

some dude, Thursday, 5 May 2011 01:58 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i still hear it dropped into radio mixes here all the time & i realized the other day that i'd rather beyonce have done a song over that beat than "pon de floor" -- that synth riff is so great

J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 May 2011 02:01 (fifteen years ago)

i always thought it was cool that he name dropped waka flocka on one of usher's biggest hits ever

heard that song the other day & had that same thought & realized how dope it would be if flocka got pitbull to spit some vintage pitbull raps for his album

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 August 2011 09:03 (fourteen years ago)

i feel like as much as Pit's music/image has changed, his actual rapping hasn't much at all. like if you threw on a 2004 crunk beat and had him do a verse, it would probably sound just like something off M.I.A.M.I.

some dude, Thursday, 11 August 2011 11:01 (fourteen years ago)

also is "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love Again" really one of Usher's biggest hits ever? i'm not even sure it was a bigger hit than "No Hands."

some dude, Thursday, 11 August 2011 11:21 (fourteen years ago)

Way bigger than "No Hands".

Tim F, Thursday, 11 August 2011 11:37 (fourteen years ago)

i dunno if that's the case in America, i know it was big internationally though.

some dude, Thursday, 11 August 2011 21:46 (fourteen years ago)

hmm for some reason i assumed "dj got us fallin in love again" had hit #1 -- in any event, one of the usher's biggest hits since 'confessions', which is still something

& i guess you're right in terms of pit's rapping not really changing, but i mean just throwing him on some hard ass luger beat

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 August 2011 22:04 (fourteen years ago)

anyway i hear "dj" all the time still, so i think my perspective is a bit screwed

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 August 2011 22:04 (fourteen years ago)

In US:

"DJ...": #4
"No Hands": #13

The Reverend, Thursday, 11 August 2011 23:02 (fourteen years ago)

Still, I wouldn't call it "One of his biggest hits ever" with 9 #1s hits.

The Reverend, Thursday, 11 August 2011 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

yeah exactly

of course any usher song is going to chart higher on the hot 100 than any southern rap song -- but like the 2nd biggest southern rap song of the past year vs. the 23rd biggest eurodance song of the past year, i dunno. also both have roughly the same # of youtube views, for whatever that's worth.

That "International Love" song is the biggest menace on the radio because it lulls me into this false complacency of "Oh, it's Pitbull! I like Pitbull" and then I do total spittake when fucking Chris Brown comes chirping in.
