just got their new album on vinyl...goddamn this is one of my favs of the year already. so great.

i kinda wish i wouldn't have said they were from mpls in the thread title cuzza ppl correctly assume i'm a big mpls local rock stan and all...but i swear this might be my favorite album of the year..

it's so natural and weird and murky sounding, it's got a sense of mystery about it to me...it's also cool in a way because so much "avant garde" type rock bands are so aggressive where this is shadowy and diffuse....

sounds amazing too, it keeps you at this odd echoey distance that i really like in compared to how flat and in your face everything sounds nowadays.

this is still an awesome record

Yeah I've been listening to Soft Abuse stuff for a bit -- Pigeons actually stayed at my old apartment for a night when they were on tour!

yeah tons of cool stuff...olympus is kinda like early swell maps total mania type stuff this guy called donovan quinn and the 13th month is kinda like go-betweens meets west coast gene clark kinda stuff

it's a sort of film score for the 1920 film, mostly instrumental, second half esp. is filled with electronic effects and psychedelic touches. Amazing.

(oh wait I said that already :P)
