The Beatles & Syd Barrett?

I was searching WinMX for some obscure Syd Barrett stuff when I stumbled across a track labeled "Syd Barrett with The Beatles - What a Shame Mary Jane." Some have the date April 15, 1967.

The song itself is avant-guarde: weird tempo changes, banging on xylophone (?) & piano, feedback (guitar I guess), & weird vocals (yelling, spacey stuff, scream, laughing). It does sound like Syd singing "lead."

So does anyone know anything about this? Is this really Syd Barrett and the Beatles?

"What's the New Mary Jane" is a Beatles track that was slated for inclusion on the White Album but pulled at the last minute. It's generally agreed that Syd had nothing to do with it.

the Beatles were recording Sgt Peppers in Abbey Road studio 1 while the Pink Floyd were recording Piper At The Gates Of Dawn in studio 2. I like to think of them sharing cups of tea in the canteen and swapping ideas.
