Most amusingly hamfisted bit of trolling I've seen in a while, cheers.

Hooray but we didn't slate Cornelius cos none of us bothered to go and watch him.

Erm, lots of half-truths knocking about here. Blak Twang did have a good atmosphere going, but one of the reasons Glastonbury is so successful is precisely because the organisation is pretty good. ALL the main stages have a 12:30 curfew no matter what, and this is precisely the time Cornelius finished a much shortened set (compared to the RFH gig a month ago) - he definitely did not overrun to compensate. Don't forget that they lost power twice in the tent while setting up (Blak Twang getting their own back???) as well, which will not have helped.

For anyone who did wait, the set was excellent, as was Blak Twangs before - but I've only ever seen one band get cut off before in 6 Glastonburys, and if you can't stick to the rules I don't see why the people following should suffer. If anything it was a pretty brave thing to do given the predictable response of the crowd.

Yeah granted Cornelius did not overrun BUT Blak Twang's own set was much shortened and started very late - now the question is was this because BT was late arriving (in which case fair do's) or was it because there had been previous overrunning - certainly the guy on before Black Twang showed himself in no hurry to get off the stage.

Right, so they hauled Blak Twang off early in order to make enough time for the power failures which they knew would happen while setting up for Cornelius's set, huh?

Another reason I'm delighted I didn't go to Glastonbury.

And overrunning seemed to be endemic in the new bands tent - when we rolled up for Tompaulin's set at the advertised time the previous lot were still playing and there was a fairly long wait in between.

Granted though, Cornelius didn't overrun and I'll change the article text to make mention of that.

Tom, Friday, 12 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Fair play, the New Bands tent has always been a bit disorganised since they introduced it - they do tend to change the line-ups throughout the day, they just don't publicise it as they do on the main stage.

Interesting that the NME only saw fit to mention one band that played there the whole weekend though.

Twang couldn't have turned up late, cos he did a number for the BBC in their tent earlier that day, when the sun was out an' all.
