So what damage did we do to poor Julio's ears in his time in the Great White North? Will he ever look at Trooper or Loverboy or Sloan in the same light? Will the system of randomly placed Beer Stores and LCBOs forever scar his beer drinking pleasures?
Thats enough questions outta me to last the month.
Alternatively you can discuss the Bob and Doug album of yore.

HA HA Noodles guess what...I'm here for another four weeks.

On what was supposed to be my penultimate day i got some really nice results. My supervisor offered to pay for an extension ot my ticket so that I could stay and finish it off (and learn some more chemistry of course) (if i went back to england I would've written my report, had a viva on it and taken a holiday and ''momentum would have been lost'' as he put it, which is right). the only problem was whether my postgrad tutor back in england would allow an extension to the report (I emailed her and its now at the end of August).

August 9th is the day i definetely go back. Much more damage to come hopefully (that journey LP is waiting, unplayed of course as I need to get back to my LP player in england). Ill be very busy but If you want to watch some gigs then email me a couple of days in advance (so i can make time) and we'll go.

The worst thing is: it's the first time I'll have my birthday w/ no family present AND i'm missing Trig brother II tomorrow where I would have met the 'i'-man (that's mark s of course). Oh well..hopefully I'll get another opportunity.

No, YOU take off. TAKE OFF! YOU HOSER!

Since Julio isn't leaving yet, I'll use this space to big up not only the original Bob and Doug album, but also the movie and the movie album (not a soundtrack, but filled to the gills with extra comedy). I recently watched the movie all over again, looking for Toronto landmarks and literary references (it's Hamlet for hosers) and despite insensitive treatment of the mentally ill it's actually still a pretty good movie: beer, hockey, donuts, more beer, vans, and the use of famous Toronto landmarks for sinister purpose...what more could you want?

I want Home Brew released!

Hey you gotta crank this lion up!
But it appears we are claiming Julio for longer, muhahaha. We are planning to turn him into an evil fleshy headed mutant.

Mr Noodles, Saturday, 13 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Radiation has made him an enemy of civilization!

''But it appears we are claiming Julio for longer, muhahaha. We are planning to turn him into an evil fleshy headed mutant.''

er...perharps I might stay away from you guys! I might turn into a mutant. The garbage build up on Spadina should do it.

''Radiation has made him an enemy of civilization!''

I think my dislike of nick drake and Radiohead has made me far more enemies.

JUlio Desouza, Saturday, 13 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ok here's a question that only canadians can answer..

who has ever heard a tune called "wild eyes" by a band called 'the stampeders'....am I wrong in thinking that this is the best song EVER!

geeg, Saturday, 13 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe I'm a bad Canadian, but the only song I know by the Stampeders is "Sweet City Woman", and you know, I can really do without it.

Sean Carruthers, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

bad canadians?! They are always polite, which is why there has nevah been any canadian punk rock. Just canadian heavy meatl.

Julio Desouza, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

DOA, the Subhumans and SNFU (among others) would beg to disagree with that last statement, Julio.

Sean Carruthers, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah.

The Actual Mr. Jones, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Mr. Jones settles this argument, thats for sure!

Julio Desouza, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the diodes! "i'm tired of being tired"!! i work with the singer's wife!!! (well in the same building)

mark s, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You know what, I don't really consider the Diodes to be punk as punk can be...they seem much more new wave. Viletones...now THAT was punk. But still, everyone says "punk" when talking about the Diodes so really, who am I to argue? (Even I said that, so...)

Sean Carruthers, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ob. correction of mark s the usually-infallible: it's "Tired of Waking Up Tired".

Sean Carruthers, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

my friends live above Steven Viletones' shop (now closed - any reports on what he's doing?). and don't tell me the damn garbage strike is *still* going on. eccch.

Dave M., Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it is just over dave M. Hurrah!

Julio Desouza, Sunday, 14 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

which is why there has nevah been any canadian punk rock.
Lets see, Viletones, Diodes, Forgotten Rebels, Young Canadians/The K-tels, Subhumans, DOA, No Means No, Chixdiggitt, Propaghandi and (questionably) Teenage Head might also disagree.
And of course Nardwuar and The Evaporators too..

You forgot Sloan!

Julio Desouza, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris Murphy from Sloan was in a hardcore band called Spent so he probably would disagree too.
Speaking of Sloan they are playing in Bala this weekend.

Mr Noodles, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

two years pass...
I wonder if they ran into Bill from Bala while they were there.
