Everyone's doing it, so what the hell... I say Back For Good.
Whatever happened to destined-to-be-the-next-George-Michael Gary Barlow?

Take THAT, mofos.

He writes sub-Take That bubblegum pop tunes for people like Steps, doesn't he? He's still richer than Robbie. By quite a long way.

And how can anyone choose owt other than "Back for Good"?

"A Million Love Songs" is better - "Back For Good" is OK but it tries a bit too hard to be a 'classic pop song', at the time I bracketed it with Oasis. Whereas "A Million Love Songs" is just pure swoony slop.

I'm not a huge fan but I like 'I found heaven'

Tom's OTM with "Back For Good" - perhaps the touchstone for the fetishisation of the "song" that came with Britpop. I don't think that makes it bad, but as with Robbie's "Angel" I find it a bit less godlike than it's rep. would suggest.

Their earlier stuff is a bit before my time, but I remember liking "Love Ain't Here Anymore".

'Could It Be Magic'
("Girl / come / come into my life")

I can't stop laughing right now, have we really run out of bands? I say it's obviously Back for Good, which is a HORRIBLE song but it is GREAT in its HORRIBLENESS, while their other stuff is just horrible.

Jesus Christ. is anyone in the UK currently unable to turn over their TV from Take That - The Circus live because its the most insane fucking stage how of all time? four band members start on top of a mechanised elephant that walks them to the stage which is a huge circus filled with hundreds of weird circus folk. This is more OTT than any prog stage set i've ever seen.

There's no way general consensus is going to make me lie to myself that Back For Good is a good song

This clowns routine is a bit shit.

Although it has to be said that Robbie could still out-clown this lot.

Some well spent hours listening to vintage Take That this week while travelling, and I wonder, did they ever explain why the video for Babe is post-Soviet themed, perhaps even Russian Revolution referencing? Seriously, Mark reunites with his wife and child in the ruins of an abandoned Russian palace in the snow after returning from…war? It’s such an unusual aesthetic for them!

Nearest I could find was this discussion here (https://popular-number1s.com/2012/09/18/take-that-babe/) marked by this comment:

The video definitely shouts “returning hero” – there’s shades of “Nikita” in that whereas the Elton vid depicts the height of the Cold War, “Babe” suggests the Soviet Union’s death throes: the deserted church recalls St Basil’s, and it occurs to me the single came out a couple of months after Yeltsin’s showdown with the Russian parliament. But – nice video, shame about the song – the lyrics don’t reflect this, and it’s more like the deserting dad scenario mentioned above.
