The more I listen to "I Held Her In My Arms", the more I think that it may be the greatest song ever consigned to CD. Gano sounds like he's just woken up from the worst nightmare he's ever had, and he still wanted to rock. And the lyrics.... "I will not kill the one thing that I love"... that's the sort of stuff that should be on university literature sylabusses, not Bob Dylan. And the saxaphone... Everything about it. Proof that teen angst is beautiful.

I'd love to cite, say, the hilarious "He Likes Me" off their criminally undersung WHY DO BIRDS SING? album, but I'm still going to have to go with "Prove My Love," `cos it's just so fuckin' perfect.

"Kiss Off" is probably the cliche answer. Regardless, that song is charged.

"Johnny," from the best-of album. Pure heartbroken longing.

Country Death Song. Nick Cave's whole mid-period schtick in one tune, done better.

Good Feeling. That and Holocaust by Big Stars cause tears everytime. And dude, I'm a full grown man.

I'm actually with Alex on this one, I think: "Prove My Love" is awesome.
