I want to hear some Autumnal hip-hop. You can interpret the adjective any way you like, of course.

Geto Boys' "Mind Playing Tricks On Me". Not only is it about feeling your brain slowly but inexorably drying up and going all flaky before blowing away, it mentions Halloween.

'Break Ups 2 Make Ups' by Method Man. Has that melancholy post-happy feel.

Mobb Deep's "Animal Instinct", "Drop A Gem On 'Em", "Quiet Storm", "Shook Ones". The sound of leaves turning from green to brown.

"Dreamy Days" Roots Manuva. Hip-hop does fucked up relationships without sounding shit for once. Very "leaves falling off trees".

"Spaghetti Junction" by Outkast. "Area Codes" feels autumnal for some reason?? like Luda's already gone on the world tour, got his ladies picked out. Now he's sitting around reflecting on his conquests and planning his winter.

There is Shadows Of Autumn by Lewis Parker.

"If I Were Santa Clause" by Atmosphere. Winter = close enough to autumn. Bonus points for a grammatically correct song title.

Boom Bip and D.O.S.E. ONE - 'Trapdoor Hand Reminder Part 1' - I've been listening to this for months, but I can't post it up anywhere and don't feel comfortable hyping it because it's released by a friend. They played it live on John Peel last night, irritatingly announced as 'Danger Will Robinson'. Jonnie 'radiohead' Greenwood's shown an interest in possible collaboration. Such a shame that John Mulvey's review at the end of the singles column in NME said that it sounded as if Boom Bip (the musician/producer) was trying to sound like DOSE ONE (the MC)!!!! He obviously hadn't read the sleeve.
