In the Beatle's "Yer Blues," what's the "reason why" ?

In the Beatles' "Yer Blues," John Lennon sings that "If I ain't dead already, girl you know the reason why." Given the context, it seems that the reason should be obvious. Am I stupid? I can't figure out what this reason is. Any ideas?
