The Stones weren't exactly the most consistent band in the world as far as albums went, even when they were good, but it took them about fifteen years to start sucking as badly as Oasis did after only two albums.

I seem to remember Noel, around the time of the first Oasis album, saying something like (extreme paraphrase) "Lennon will piss all over me in a couple of albums' time, but my first one is better than his", or something. Thought it was fair point at the time, and became more so up to about 2000; I would say that it gets truer every day, if only Abbey Road wasn't so annoying.
