C90: All or Mostly Female (Post)-Punk, Answer Fast

I need to put together a female-dominated comp for one person and a post-punk one for another: this is a two-birds, one-stone situation if I've ever seen one. Off the top of my head I have:

Slits - Typical Girls
Au Pairs - You
Delta 5 - Mind Your Own Business
Girls at Our Best - Getting Nowhere Fast
X-Ray Spex - Oh Bondage Up Yours
Lilliput - Ain't You

Jog my memory while I'm still sitting in front of a T1 line and can download anything I don't own.

Hahaha don't worry, Douglas, I make up for it by being pretty evangelical about that record in other contexts. I've already bought two copies of it myself!

Re The flowers.

There are two tracks on Earcom one and two singles on Pop Aural. All great. Whenever I saw them in Edinburgh they used to play with another girl group called The Ettes who I remember fondly but not very well, They never recorded anything that I know of.

Thirded the Skodas! What of ESG? The Go-Gos? Some Brix E. Smith Fall even?

Sarah, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love that single, Dr. C., and have it as well as the compilation you mention (which is great in parts but necessarily patchy, I think).

The Skodas were from Bristol, as I recall, but I know nothing else about them. Anyone?

Tim, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah I see someone else already said that, colour me illiterate.

Of course there is my band, with the female take on Prince Busters "The Ten Commandments of Man".

Sarah, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think some people in this thread just don't get it. I think nabisco is looking for a specific period (late 70s/early 80s), not, like, every all-female or female-dominated band.

Dean Air, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
