pixies PURPLE ALBUM what's the deal?

i've heard talk of "the purple album" - a supposedly unreleased pixies thing just come to light. is someone pulling my leg, or is it indeed a bunch of limp gil norton produced weariness?

The tracks from the original demo tape that didnt make Come On Pilgrim. Expensive, at least over here.

www.salon.com has a story about it; some tracks ended up on Come On Pilgrim, this is either the rest or all of them together. They also have the version of "Subbacultcha" from it for listening/downloading.
