It so fucking is. Even the bit where it turns into Alicia Keys sounded fabulous the second time.

And is anyone still listening to Freak Like Me? I'm listening to it right now and it seems to have separated into its component parts. yuk.

I'd been thinking of starting a thread called "Exactly How Much Of A Disappointment is the new Sugababes single?" oh well.

I think I'd like this a lot more if it weren't for the Atomic Kitten reject's irritating singing, mind. seems far too, I don't know, stage school or something.

Having an "Atomic Kitten Reject" is an honour.

Graham, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't theink I like it much, it's pretty forgetable the first time you hear it, which IMHO is not a good thing in a pop single.

Finally got to hear the Girls on Top 'original' of 'Freak Like Me' the other day - sounds so much better - rougher, freakier - than the 'cover'. Have only seen the new Atomic Kitten single on Graham Norton, but it didn't do much for me - seemed to be a pretty weak follow up to 'Freak Like Me' - almost like they were distancing themselves from that rec...

Maybe this one is for the 'real fans'

Andrew L, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The real fans aren't etc etc.

I still prefer Freak Like Me to We Don't Give A Damn... cos of those HUGE DRUMS! I am also still listening to it, yes Graham.

The LP is called "Angles With Dirty Faces", dear god.

Graham, Sunday, 4 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Which itself calls for a whole new round of bootlegs. Anyone for the vocals from "Round Round" over the music of "Broken Homes"?

Tim, Sunday, 4 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
yes graham, i think i agree. Round Round is very good indeed

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 22 September 2002 11:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Said elsewhere: repeated so as to annoy. "Round Round" is a record the Primitives/Shop Assistants etc wd have KILLED to have got into the Top Ten: classic 80s-indie cyclic structure.

As I said on another thread, I wasn't keen on 'Freak Like Me' but 'Round Round' is brilliant. I thought they were a generally substandard British joke before, but I can see them making an impact in the US with this.

David (David), Sunday, 22 September 2002 11:42 (twenty-three years ago)

i like round round better, cos i think freak like me was lame compared to the adina howard version.

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 22 September 2002 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

two weeks pass...
Wow, the high pitched squeaky noise that kicks in circa 2:16 is even more addctive than the bashing-two-spanners-together-noise in Just l!ke a pill.

"Angels With Dirty Faces" is very nearly better than either of them, esp w/ The Sugapuff Girls video.

Graham (graham), Saturday, 28 December 2002 14:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Who was it that was dissing the "if you want me, just text me" line? I think it's classic!

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 28 December 2002 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes it is.

Graham (graham), Saturday, 28 December 2002 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

four years pass...

CAN'T BELIEVE it's been five years since "Freak Like Me" (the one by the Sugababes) came out. Still totally classic. I miss bastard pop.

"It's all good for MEEEEEEE!!!"

Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 2 August 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

Round Round is better than Freak Like Me, but both are amazing. Too bad they didn't make it in the US. I've heard whispers that they will be attempting to launch Sugababes mk 3 here as an R&B act (they've already had great success on the dance charts).

musically, Thursday, 2 August 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

They should just put together a completely new Sugababes for the US market and let our lot concentrate on the UK.

Matt DC, Thursday, 2 August 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

"Round Round" is better. I mean, just the fact that it is entirely originally written and not based on an old pre-existing song.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 2 August 2007 22:25 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, "Round Round" is based on a sample from a Dublex Inc. track isn't it?

Tim F, Friday, 3 August 2007 03:32 (eighteen years ago)

Haha pwned.

Matt DC, Friday, 3 August 2007 11:18 (eighteen years ago)

Time to revive this thread.

daavid, Friday, 3 August 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

Aww man, that means Round Round isn't a good song anymore!

musically, Saturday, 4 August 2007 06:34 (eighteen years ago)

btw, here's the song, free to download too.
