a factual question relating to royal trux

my interest in them having suddenly resurrected after three years of their absence from my life, i've been on a soulseek hunt. moderately productive, but no id tags on all the songs. now there's a lot of tracks on both singles live unreleased and the two eponymous albums. are these the same versions? would think not, as the 'strawberry soda' i have is a lot fuller soundinf than other tracks not on the singles comp.

and if it's important to anyone, 'strawberry soda' is amongst the great artefacts of the last century. mercy. i've turned into someone from the Spectator.

No I don't think there is too much overlap between those records..I seem to prefer Twin Infinatives and the stuff after they were dropped by Virgin that sounded like they came back with a vengence..Drag City says they have an unreleased album in the vaults that should be out soon.

YES!!!

It's not easy to make me de-lurk here, but you hit on one of about three things that can. Congrats.

(& Omar: give that first album another chance. You'll see the light, I promise.)

i consider myself to be a huge rtx fan, but i still struggle with twin infinitives. maybe i've just never been in the right frame of mind, but it almost feels like a joke sometimes. call me a fool if you will, but i don't think they get any better than when they're at their most listenable and accessible, notably some of the later albums.

sorry, that doesn't help with your question at all does it. the singles album is the one thing i never got of theirs. is it worth getting, considering i have quite a few of the singles already?

yeah get the singles album, it's chocka-loaded-full of some of their v. best stuff. & if you got a bunch of the singles, well cool, those're worth money, sell em & get the singles album (what i did)

the singles album, if you refer to the 3xLP thingy, is worth getting for the version of "suicide is painless" alone. Da trux are as good a band as there is. How are the neil hagerty solos efforts? did RTX call it a day?

yeah they split up about 18 months-ish ago. i was very pleased to have got to see them for the first time just before pound for pound came out. funnily enough they were supporting pavement at their last ever gig, but that was less exciting since i had seen then many times before and they're not all that great.
