not so much about the man and his music but more a question on the emotive power of music

i only ever heard two pieces by him "i kill everything i f**k" and something else - i found it truely appaling and had difficulty listening to the point where i couldnt any further (it reminded me of that bullshit anti-semitism, combat 18 stuff - in its vulgarity i mean) - has this ever happened to you and what was the band / song (please no britney /christina 'funny' posts)

It's Allin, not Allen.

I've never taken anything GG Allin "sang" seriously (nor should anyone, really), but that doesn't excuse him, I suppose. Likewise the Mentors.

There've been some hip hop tracks that have repelled me in this way, but I can't think of titles.

yeah i thought it was allin as i wrote it - it was a long time ago and i didnt pay much attention to the details

i heard that he got his "GG"s from iGGy pop.

i've heard that it was from george gosset.

Nope. His given name was Jesus Christ Allin, and his younger brother couldn't pronounce it.

Allin's Brutality and Bloodshed For All has some of the most disturbing cover art I've ever seen, mainly 'cause of the crazy neon color scheme. It makes Songs About Fucking's green/purple headache look like a 4AD release.

As for being repelled by a song/artist, some of Gitane Demone's BDSM-themed solo stuff is unpleasant. That's not really because BDSM bothers me but more because of the aggressive and thorougly unerotic way she portrays it- -like those pictures in the Exile in Guyville liner notes.

You should watch the G.G. Allin documentary Hated. It's one of the best rock documentaries I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot. Fuckin' brilliant, eh!

The only other bands to come into the same bracket of offensiveness would be the Macc Lads and Whitehouse (both novelty bands depending on your point of view...)

eminem - i can't/won't listen to 'kim' all the way through, and some of the stuff on the new record makes me uncomfortable to the point of nausea ('drips', 'superman')

Dave M., Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hehehe.. Whitehouse as a comedy act.

Hello to both of you who just did a Google search on "Colin Meeder" and "Hated". This is not the place.

Colin Meeder, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But Colin, your legion of fans pursues you...

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am my own legion of fans.

Colin Meeder, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What about meeee, Colin?

No. Wait a minute. Dude, I've never heard anything by the Hated! Not ever! What the hell?

Michael Daddino, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nobody's ever heard the Hated -- but that will change this year (we hope).

Colin Meeder, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

duane, the same person who suggested that on the one hand i might be a bit gg allin like and iggy pop like (in my wild rock'n'roll years) was the guy who with me formulated a band called "the beige f*****"s" as a tribute band to julie andrews and the partridge family

george gosset, Sunday, 11 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

four years pass...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GG_Allin

He was born Jesus Christ Allin at Weeks' Memorial Hospital, in Lancaster, New Hampshire. He was given this messianic name because his father, Merle Allin, Sr. (a religious and antisocial man), then 32 years old, had told his wife, Arleta Gunther, then 21 years old, that an angel had visited him and told him that his newborn son would be a great man in the vein of the Messiah.

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Thursday, 9 November 2006 23:49 (nineteen years ago)

it's cool when that type of shit happens, because he really was like some sort of prophet ushering in a new era.
