Since I like all his Pulp songs, even "Srpski Jeb", and since he can't really be blamed him for Venini's failure, I find him incapable of doing wrong. So, uh, classic.

Which Pulp songs did he write? I can only decide once I know!

I imagine he contributed heavily on most of their stuff from when he joined up until and including "Different Class".. The songwriting credits don't differentiate between the band members.

He was the resident violinist, but only sings on a few tracks: Sprski Jeb, The Will to Power, Fairground, Anorexic Beauty, and This House Is Condemned. All except Fairground are classic.

I disagree. Fairground is _also_ classic. Venini weren't bad, but they were obviously never going to be massive, and I still like "St Tropez" for some reason. Russell is, of course, classic, even though Pulp are as good as ever without him, although I do occasionally miss the violin when I hear their post-DC stuff.

Venini were the worst band I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. For that alone he must be deemed a big fat uberdud.

Venini were pretty rub, and wasn't he involved in some other awful band after Pulp?

Baby Birkin, about whom I heard *very* mixed reports.

Debbie Lime was the whole Venini package for me. I don't think Russell should be a dud just for backing her stupid lyrics (he's got a family to feed and all).

Both Venini and Baby Birkin are tripe, and I'm a big Russell fan (and bought all his post-Pulp records without hearing them first.. d'oh!). Venini are slightly better than BB, who irritate me almost as much as Pizzicato Five.
