Seemingly half of Julee Cruise's output.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ug, don't have the title of it handy, but the main song on Automator's Better Tomorrow EP, the one w/ Kook Keith rapping, when the beat breaks down and the snaps come in -- so nice.

"Grindin'" has been getting 'single of the year' type props all over the place. Where can I hear it?

Can't remember any titles but loads of stuff on the Strictly Rhythm label c. 1991-93 used fingersnaps instead of claps. Fingersnaps became the new claps for a while.

"Lie Still, Little Bottle" from the first They Might Be Giants.

The Actual Mr. Jones, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pitchfork, "Burn, Pigs, Burn".

Diego, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Burn, Pigs, Burn is a classic! What about the fingersnappinest song of all... Roger Miller's King of the Road.

Andy, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Big Spender" from Sweet Charity. Loads of Bob Fosse-choreographed songs, I'm told.

Arthur, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

re Grindin: it's got some cool noises in it and it's probably about as minimal a hip hop track as you'll find. what puts it over is the way the rhythm of the backing track rubs up against the rhythm of the rapping - if you listen to the former in isolation it's pretty unremarkable - but it's like the neptunes just started the vocals half a bar later than they should so everything suddenly has the magical little bounce in it.
