kinda feel like these guys deserve their own thread. yes i know i'm half a decade late

been getting heavily into a fact a second recently. makes so much sense stoned

i love how the vocalist is basically a slightly nervous, apprehensive version of alan vega

this is some of the best non house/electro/rap 808 programming ever

i know they're already mentioned in a few threads, but let's have some fresh conversation about this band

how is the new stuff?

why did i say vocalist? i meant singer. speaker of words

lyrics to "cherish 8" are dark

"loss" and "ncr" have a marvellously nasty nocturnal vibe too.

fifteen years pass...

A very quiet Ike Yard thread! I've known Stuart since I put out the Ike Yard compilation on Acute in 2005. We've kept in touch, I recently helped him with the design and layout for a compilation of work he did with Robert Longo called Dream Jumbo...

There's a new bandcamp page up for the label Behemoth Angel, covering Ike Yard adjacent projects:

https://behemothangel.bandcamp.com/

as I posted on facebook:

1. The Futants ( NYC 1978 -'79 ). Stuart Argabrights NYC band after the DC punk of the Rudements and before the post-punk no wave adjacent experimental dub electronics of Ike Yard, recently unearthed demo tape.

2. Propeller. Michael Diekmann of Ike Yard"s lovely late 80s jangly college rock with Death Comet Crew bandmate Shin Shimokawa with Lydia Kavanagh, Stephen Vitiello, David Sparks including Standon Miranda percussion on one song.

3 Soundtracks Vol. 1 by various artists. Work for various vidoe/film circa 83-85 including the classic Dominatrix. Stuart, Michael and Shin from Death Comet Crew and friends including Ken Lockie (Cowboys International!)

All of interest, all worth checking out!

Shout out to o13 (a.k.a. Outpost 13) which was Stuart and Mark C from Live Skull. Time Wave Zero is their sole album and worth your time. The second one referenced as "forthcoming" on the Bandcamp page never did come out.

I think Alice Cohen of Philly new wavers the Vels and many years in the NYC underground played with them for a bit as well.

I interviewed Stuart for The Wire a couple of years ago. Interesting guy.
