Former Divinyls singer Chrissy Amphlett has died in New York after a long battle with cancer.

She revealed in 2010 that she had breast cancer, and she had also battled multiple sclerosis.

I never knew that she formed the band with Air Supply cast-offs. o_O

Very sad that she was already dealing with MS and then gets hit with cancer :(

One article I read said that she had to forgo radiation therapy for the cancer due to the pre-existing MS, so I presume it just kept killing her slowly. Awful awful awful.

Aw man... RIP. That first Divinyls album (with "Boys In Town") is so great.

A pity. The eponymous album with "I Touch Myself" is actually good.

This is terrible but I can't stop thinking of how "I Touch Myself" could be refashioned for a breast cancer screening PSA

I saw somewhere that she'd made that connection herself a year or two ago.

Damn shame, this news.

Chronic illness is the worst, I hope she didn't suffer too much. RIP

Damn! Just last night I wanted to sing "I Touch Myself" at karaoke, but they didn't have it. Also: the book at that karaoke place sucks.

"Temperamental" is such a fun song

It's been a good long time since I've played the "big" album, though I do periodically revisit the 80s albums. Kinda forgot how good it was.

"Make Out Alright" got airplay on my college station. Good tune.

I remember there being a lot of Stones-isms on the s/t, but "Bless My Soul" would be the standout track on any Stones album in the last two decades.

oh, this is sad.

funny story: i was once reprimanded in middle school because, for an assignment to make a humorous "wanted poster" for a public figure, i did mine on her. i didn't even know her name, i just thought the song was really cool and funny. it was a big middle school hit, i can tell you! i don't remember a thing about my "work", my prude pig-farmer teacher thought it was way over the line sexually and mailed it home to my parents.

hahaha, that's great. "I Touch Myself" was definitely the biggest hit of 7th grade.

Her stage presence reminds me a little bit of Glenn Danzig here, which is something I'd not have expected.
