One of the ones mentioned on this thread, probably:
Best Steve Albini Produced Album...

Just out but bound to remain obscure (in the US - although their second CD got slagged off on Pitchfork): Dead Man Ray - with a Nordine contribution.

He did the Ghost album (not the Tibetan band), which sucked.

Spiderbaby (I hope I have the name right). Pretty good, angular hard rock album.

pegboy fore is kinda underrated. steve plays bass on this ep too... he's also pictured in the liner notes getting his ass kicked on the golf course.

i also like his field recording on his tortoise remix.

Crow's "My Kind of Pain" (although it was severely remixed later on) and PJ Harvey's second LP is very underappreciated IMO.

didn't 'rid of me' win like every end of the year poll when it came out?

keith (keithmcl), Thursday, 10 October 2002 01:07 (twenty-three years ago)

i went to this (rare in nz) shellac gig and kept asking him "so why did you "engineer" that album by page and plant ? is that selling out or did you just want to learn some studio tricks from page ? actually your sound is kind'a like the led zep graffiti sound don't ya think ?"

and the page/plant album is pretty useless (no jones ?) despite albini as "producer"

"the art(e) of romance" by the argentinian hardcore punk band Fun People.

18th Dye - Tribute to a Bus & Amps - Pacer.

2 of my top ten albums of the 90's.

beaty, Thursday, 10 October 2002 05:28 (twenty-three years ago)

"Tribute to a Bus" is fantastic.. I never looked to see who produced it....

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 10 October 2002 11:01 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm pretty sure Tribute to a Bus was not produced by Albini. The producer's name evades me at the moment, but he's also produced for Chokebore.

Philippe, Thursday, 10 October 2002 11:05 (twenty-three years ago)

No, it was Albini.

charlie va, Thursday, 10 October 2002 11:26 (twenty-three years ago)

so why did you "engineer" that album by page and plant?

If engineering a record for wads of money allowed me to take off whenever and play a show in Georgia that coincides with a whiffle ball tournament, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If it allowed me to give away dozens of donuts, play on a steamboat, and/or have a show themed on the Pine Tar Incident, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
