Or, records you hated to start with but actually really liked on the second listen.

Mesdames et messieurs, voici la groupe anglais KaitO avec la disque "You've Seen Us... You Must Have Seen Us..."

I thought the lyrics on Mr. Lif's I, Phantom were pretty weak at first, though it may have had more to do with the fact that I read the awkwardly-written "concept album" liner notes as I listened to it. But I really got into the beats and eventually I gave up trying to contend with the rap-opera story (and compare it with Prince Among Thieves) and learned to like it all right. So my pathetic Def Jux jocking continues unabated.

this thread title #1

how trite would it be to say the strokes sounded a lot less disappointing after dumping all the hype and baggage? thought so...

idunno...the slits' 'cut' i guess. big black. that kenna album - though warming up to that was likely me getting over some snobby anti-isms.

A world away and an age ago, I hated "Heroin" on first listen. I've found I quite like it since then.

For me to undergo this dramatic a shift takes like 7 years...I have to re-grow all my cells and here the piece after a new biorhythm cycle. I never hate something and then love it a month or two later. This only really happens when I sell a record and then buy it like much later -- probably w/ stuff that seemed too noisy when I first heard it, like A Love Supreme.

Trout Mask Replica, although it took me far more than two listens to really start getting it.
