So, Karl Blau has made a lot of music over the past 6 years, although I suppose a lot of it is released via his Kelp! Monthly zine. I only own this year's Nature's Got Away, which is finding it's way onto my record player more and more frequently as the year goes by. Anyone else into his stuff? Should we still be ordering Shell Collection and thanking d on y for it, or is there a better place to start?

Beneath Waves owned. Particularly the first song.

enjoy Nature's Got Away a ton (one of my year's favourites) - but also a lot more than anything else i've heard by him.

FYI, he lost a lot of stuff in a fire:

This new country covers album is delightful.

I agree. Only recently stumbled across him, can't even remember how, but I'm well into this. In the Matthew E White ballpark, but I got bored with him so will take this instead.

Spotify has been recommending the past two weeks and I am digging.

He was also in this band D+ that I caught at a record store a long time ago.

D+ also included Bret Lunsford (beat happening) and Phil Elverum (microphones/my eerie)
tbh I haven't really enjoyed what I've heard but that's a top notch dude trio

Loved his record from last year. He played up the road last month and I didn't go because life. I hope he doesn't mind.

his version of "Fallin' Rain" is transcendent

^^^^ Agree * 100. I make a yearly favorites cdr comp for myself, and was culling other favorite tracks because I HAD to include that 9+ min song.

I love that whole Link Wray era so it's like catnip to me

Yeah, that version of "Fallin' Rain" kills me. Saw him play last year and that one definitely brought the waterworks.

He was up the road again last night (supporting then accompanying Laura Veirs) and it was a beautiful show. I bought his last copy of *...Introducing* and the big bear signed it for me. He looks a lot like David Harbour in person.
He's moved to Philly and has recorded an EP with some of the dudes from War on Drugs. It's good: https://opaleskar.bandcamp.com/album/opal-eskar-ep

Thanks for this. Buying it this Bandcamp Friday.

Just saw that he's playing a small club here in Portland this coming Monday. Listening to him for the first time, his most recent album. Into it! Good Purple Mountains cover, too:
