I'm planning on ordering a few Caveh Zahedi movies in the near future but I can't make up my mind what I want to buy. Could someone please list their top three favorites & why?

His best I've seen is In the Bathtub of the World, which has several moments of sheer genius bound up with great moments in the history of the word "cringe-inducing". Highly essential. Also doesn't hurt that the DVD comes with bonus material of two of his other shorts - one in which he surprises his girlfriend with the "present" for her birthday of taping her all day long, and I Was Possessed by God, in which Caveh takes mushrooms and has himself recorded as he has a religious moment.

A Little Stiff is okay in my opinion, but it's way too student-film-ish wow-I'm-meta for it's own good. At least his later films are straight documentaries instead of restaged previous events.

I haven't seen the Las Vegas film, though I hear it's very funny. He's currently working on both a film on his life as a sex addict and he should be premiering Caveh Goes Tripping (I think this is the title...) at a 'dance festival this month.

I ended up buying the "In the Bathtub of the World" DVD and "I Don't Hate Las Vegas Anymore." The latter was probably the most entertaining film failure I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, the film itself is not a failure--it just seems that Caveh failed in every thing he wanted to achieve through the film, but succeeded in making a very funny, honest & beautiful movie. The whole concept of "fate" and letting God "direct" your movie is an interesting one & it would make for a good discussion post.

"In the Bathtub of the World" was great as well, although painful to watch in some places--like a non-fictional "David Holtzman's Diary". I liked the shorts too, especially "I Was Possessed By God", which is probably the most disturbing thirty minutes I've ever sat through. Again, it makes for interesting conversation as to whether Caveh achieved his goals with this one & how much of an effect having a camera on him influenced his words/reactions/feelings/etc.

I can't wait to see what he releases next.

What should I - somebody unfamiliar with CAVEH ZAHEDI - expect?

YES! And "I Am A Sex Addict" is premiering too! (looks like he changed the name from the original "I Was A Sex Addict")

Expect a hyper, effeminate intellectual who is obsessed with mushrooms and God. Don't expect him to shut up at any point.

Oops, sorry, I was wrong--it was always "I Am..."

I liked "I am a Sex Addict", but are we REALLY to believe this sex addict didn't know until way after she was cast and working on the film that the woman playing his wife was Rebecca Lord?

On DVD, 'Sex Addict' has the most OUTRAGEOUS behind-the-scenes extras I've EVER seen.
