What scripts stand up on their own as being of particular value?

I know how many people on this board feel about LA Confidential, but Brian Helgeland's orginal screenplay for that is wonderful, IMHO.

I am reading the U-Turn script now. Will report back.

commenting without having read the script may not be bright but what the hell. the script for adaptation has to be one of the best in modern film.
