this was a documentary by kim snyder which was just released on dvd recently. there was just a ile thread on cfs/me (which this is about)which made me think that maybe i'd start a thrad, though it may just sink anyway.

in any case, i had really mixed feelings about it. a friend who'd seen it had suggested that it overall came across with a note of hope to cfs sufferers but i'm not sure what i thought. i felt like there was a lot missing in the overall portrayal of things, though she interviewed the right people (docs i mean).

um, i know a lot on this particular subject, which also means that i saw this movie differently than i might see something that i had no emotional investment in.

so i'm curious as to whether anyone's saw it and what they think. i'm glad it's out, but think it could have been done better, but i'm really really opinioinated on this topic. i also kinda wonder if no one will see it because, dude, sick people are depressing. thoughts?

I saw this when it was on Sundance a couple years ago. As I recall, the medical establishment at the time wasn't even acknowledging CFS's legitimacy so much of the movie was spent on individual stories and less on potential causes, society issues, etc.

FWIW, I didn't think it was badly done. About the same as a typical Frontline episode.

I haven't seen this film. Unfortunately, films like this very rarely make it into distribution unless they are highlighting an incredibly bizarre medical phenomenon (the documentary "whole" is a good example--also a very well-done film).

Most films about a disorder are usually only interesting to doctors or people who have the disorder--is there any reason beyond the theme as to why I should watch this film?
