I've decided to boycott any film discussions at ILE. They only detract from the ILF discussions.

I'm not quite so pure as Jay... ;-) ... but I don't see much to inspire me in what's been mentioned there so far. Your nominations are good though, todd. I'll vote in it just to make sure they get some representation.

Don't get me wrong--I really like ILE and I've seen some terrific posts about film there. But I like having a forum only for film, and if everyone starts moving the film discussions to ILE, people will start losing interest in ILF. Sorry, I've posted extensively about this in the past, so I won't start ranting again.

Hey, don't turn on me--I post to ILE for non-film related stuff; I just choose not to post to the film-related ILE threads because I think it detracts from ILF. If other people feel differently, that's fine. I don't think the attitude is "rockist" (god I hate that phrase); it's just a passive protest.

I know you were A.A. & J.C.--I wasn't accusing you of taking that attitude, just the ILE flunkies who can't seem to understand why this forum is important. It's nice to have an open forum for serious discussion/debate about films without the enevitable catch-phrase getting tossed out anytime serious critique arises.

I would be more than happy to do a similar poll over here, but it just isn't worth it for me to participate in the ILE one. Beyond the reasons I've already mentioned, there doesn't seem to be much debate or even reasoning for people's choices & that just seems pretty dull & pointless to me.

Even though I'm not participating in it, I really hope the ILE poll goes well & some good discussion is generated. It seems like Girolamo & others have put a lot of work into making it happen.
