Looks like Hidalgo was traded to the Mets for David Weathers.

Hidalgo's on my fantasy team. He started off hottt but the last couple weeks have been brutal. so there he sits on my bench. If anyone thinks going to the Mets will turn him around make me an offer!

Whoa, ESPN is reporting that the Mets threw in Jeremy Griffiths along with Weathers. Griffiths was 5-2 with 3.47 ERA in AAA. Do any of you Mets fans know if he's much of a prospect? Those numbers look pretty good, but they don't really tell much of a story.

you can always go to http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/Stats/index.html for raw year-to-date minor league stats, then google the name to find age and history (this site http://www.sports-wired.com/players/profile.asp?Name=FFBH seems to be the best).
conclusion: griffiths is no prospect because i)he's 26, ii)he sucks. by his history, maybe he could be a number 5 on some teams, i dunno.

i may be getting my mets AAAA pitchers mixed up, but i think he pitched against the yankees last year and was pathetic, though i can't remember the details (except that he had a hilariously weak curveball, a 68 mph lollipop of a thing). but yeah, just a throw in. he's no tanyon sturtze, for sure.

I've blotted out all young Mets who don't impress early (a tradition launched by Pulsipher/Wilson/pre-closer Izzy) ... so to the Prospectus paperback monster!

Griffiths pitched 9 times for the Mets in '03 (6 starts) and was spanked to the tune of .328. "A fastball that isn't all that fast or blessed with movement."
