The Angels middle of the line up with Guerrero added to Glaus and Anderson is impressive. Their outfield defense is going to be good, among the best in the AL.

Also adding Colon and that starter from the Blue Jays, with their other starters and solid bullpen, they should be the team to beat in the AL West. Neither the A's or Mariners have made many moves this winter.

Meanwhile, Giants sign Tomko.

re: "that starter from the blue jays" - kelvim escobar - he may have good stuff - but he's unpredictable as hell. don't count on anything from the guy.

well there's this claim of sexual abuse, he got lit up as a closer for the blue jays but finally settled down as a starter:

GS IP H R ER BB SO ERA SNWAR
As Starter 26 163.0 162 77 71 70 136 3.92 3.0

yes. good stuff as i said (you didn't post his #'s from his previous years - his stats are all over the place).

+ he complains alot - he's never happy with his role.

+ he suffers from the occasional undiagnosable injuries when the pressure seems to be on.

+ i have no idea what's happening with that case now but i'm glad he's outta my city.

seven years pass...

Vlad has gone 8784 PA without a sacrifice, according to Jeff Allen of SABR. This is still about 1300 short of the all-time record by Frank Thomas.?

Saw him tie Franco the other night (in DET). The ball was tossed into the dugout but there wasn't anything on the scoreboard -- had to look up Vlad to see what had happened. Kinda shitty.

lazy answer: better than Jim Rice

Of his batting comps,

1.Jeff Bagwell (860)
2.Larry Walker (860)
3.Jim Rice (849) *
4.Chipper Jones (849)
5.Billy Williams (841) *
6.Willie Stargell (840) *
7.Duke Snider (822) *

looks like only Walker may not get in the HOF.
