this seems like it'll be the closest one

phillies in 5?

the lord of overstock (ciderpress), Sunday, 28 September 2008 23:14 (seventeen years ago)

Brewers 4

Alex in SF, Monday, 29 September 2008 03:50 (seventeen years ago)

I haven't been following the Brewers much but isn't their rotation pretty shredded with Sheets hurt and CC going on short rest? Whats their playoff rotation? Parra/Suppan/CC?? Phillies have Hamels/Myers/Moyer and a good pen. I say Phillies in 4.

Will root Brewers just for the Braun/Hardy eye candy.

The ESPN Radio team for this series is Michael Kay & Steve Phillips, so I hope you all have TBS or a Spanish feed.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 30 September 2008 13:08 (seventeen years ago)

Brewers 11th in MLB in Secret Sauce, Phils 12th (#1 closer ranking, obv).

EVEN WITH SHEETS OUT FOR THE POST-SEASON

Andy K, Wednesday, 1 October 2008 16:26 (seventeen years ago)

From Ben Shpigel's NYT blog:

Here at Citizens Bank Park, we’re about three and a half hours from the first pitch of the 2008 playoffs. The Brewers’ lineup is posted. The Phillies’ is not — perhaps because they are still evaluating the status of Pat Burrell, who left batting practice Tuesday with a sore back.
Representing Philadelphia in the interview room today will be the Game 2 starter, Brett Myers; Manager Charlie Manuel and … the head trainer, Scott Sheridan. Bringing in a trainer to speak to the media during the postseason is almost unheard of, and it can only mean that he will address Burrell’s injury.

Burrell is on the postseason roster, but he may not start in left field today. If he does not, look for Jayson Werth to move to left field and either Geoff Jenkins or Matt Stairs to play right.

David R., Wednesday, 1 October 2008 19:56 (seventeen years ago)

btw, Michael Kay was expressing astonishment on his NY show Monday at how he gets "hammered" for being a homer on Yankee TV compared to broadcasting Met fans like Gary Cohen and Howie Rose. "It used to bother me, but I'm over it."
