Hoping it will be Cubs in 3. I have tickets for Game 3.

I can't wait until late in the game to see how Jonathan Broxton does in the playoffs. Mark Grace calls Broxton "The Biggest Man in the World" when he comes out of the bullpen. The dude kind of reminds me of Rob Dibble.

I watched Billingsley pitch a couple of times this year against the Reds. That guy can get some movement on his pitches.

Well, I believe the Chicago Cubs certainly have the better team but I can't be 100% about their chances and in fact I won't believe it until I see them in the World Series. That said, Cubs in 4. The Dodgers are very good but I just don't see them getting through "the Cubbies".

The Dodgers are the hottest and scariest team in the NL right now with Furcal back. Anything can happen in a short series but I am hoping the Cubs will continue to play out-of-their-minds, Soto-esque baseball as they have all year.

I'll be much higher on the Cubs' chances if they take one of the first two. The pitching matchups in LA seem more in the Cubs favor. I don't think Z's got much left or, if he does, he tends to get overhyped for big games.

DeRosa's error was like a kick in the gut for the crowd. They pretty much could have called the game right then and there.

Zambrano really didn't pitch that bad, but when you have to get six outs in an inning, you are going to give up some runs.

That said I'd rather have the Cubs three and four than the Dodgers, esp. since Harden is probably the best pitcher on either team when healthy (which he appears to be.)

How much of the bullpen did Torre go through last night? If he did what he did during Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS (where he ran through his best bullpen guys despite a double-digit lead), there could be some hope for the Cubs. Assuming they can rough up Kuroda and Maddux (which is a safe assumption).

Has anyone ever pulled up numbers on closers pitching in non-save situations? It seems especially dumb in playoff series, like they'd be more likely to remain sharp by throwing in the bullpen than doing mop-up duty ("Ooh gimme the ball I've always wanted to be Chris Bootcheck for one night") and 1) risking confidence loss and 2) allowing the opposition to be more up to speed on pitches/tendencies. "And here's a look at what you'll be seeing if the next game is on the line."

Looks like 11 predicted Cubs, three predicted Dodgers. No one predicted a sweep (two in five, one (me) in four). Thought the Cubs would win Dempster/Lowe.

I know small sample sizes and all that but, goddamn, Soriano is brutal in the playoffs. It was fitting that that series ended with him flailing.

really wish lilly could have gotten a start, dude got consistently better through the year and was getting hot near the end of the season

the cubs just needed to fucking relax through the whole series, they just looked so tense and they were trying so hard and it got really obvious it was just destroying them

the thing that pisses me off about soriano is him insisting on batting at the top of the order even though he is pretty much only capable of hitting home runs or striking out

but he gets them going

Shock seemed to be a prevailing feeling in the Cubs' clubhouse Saturday when the Dodgers finished off the three-game sweep of the National League Division Series with a 3-1 victory at Dodger Stadium.

That and sadness and frustration -- enough that some of them did to a couple of pipes with their bats what they couldn't do to Dodgers pitching, pounding them until water flooded the visitors' dugout.

Way to take it out on the local stadium crew, assholes.
