ST KILDA - Need to come back hard and will
WEST COAST - Whichever side can recover first from the ignominy of being the only teams to lose to both Carlton and Collingwood will win this. Eagles at home
PORT - Can Sidneyland do it two weeks running?
GEELONG - Instinct. At home and playing with more consistency
FREO - Barring a repeat of last year's hailstorm. It's over here but they're playing Richmond FFS
MELB - No Tarrant, Rocca must be doubtful, Melbourne have been playing better for longer
(Reckon the Lions may be due for another loss as well...who are they playing again Chrisso?)

CARLTON v HAWTHORN
Carlton will stun the football world by winning back-to-back games for the first time since Kouta could run. Kouta will pull out of the match with menstrual cramps and will miss for the eleventh time in twelve games. Hawthorn will be right in this match until a bizarre incident in which one Hawthorn player bowls over another in the second quarter and the Hawks spend ten minutes in a huge brawl amongst themselves. Carlton kick nine for the quarter and Fevola hits the roof instead of Dennis Pagan. Blues by six goals.
BULLDOGS V ST KILDA
The Bulldogs gain the 'unluckiest team in the league' title after having to front up against the snarling Saints coming off their first loss. St Kilda forward Fraser Gehring will shave his head to look like Barry Hall or Frasier Crane and it will pay off as two Bulldog defenders (well that's both of them) run to Aaron Hamill. Jade Rawlings gets ten kicks in the first half and kicks ten behinds but it is the Saints that go on to kick arse. St Kilda by 79 points.
ESSENDON V BRISBANE
Essendon play their 19th consecutive match at the pamper dome but Matty Lloyd's effort of whispering sweet nothings into the umpires' ears as he dives more than a South American soccer star will all come to nought because we all know what happens when the flat track bullies play a decent side. If Brisbane start well the Bombers are finished because Essendon are the biggest frontrunner since the Bulldog on the Mack truck. Look for Kevin Sheedy to do the grandstanding while Acnemanis does the handstanding. Brisbane by 13 points in a cracker.
WEST COAST v ADELAIDE
Clearly the most valuable employee at the Adelaide Cows is its spin-doctor. Why else would the newspapers go on about how the Cows go all right at Subi when they've only won ONE MATCH there against West Coast? The Eagles haven't had winning form but they seem to be able to play four quarters a bit better than the Cows who have a good first quarter and then pull out the deck chairs. With the Cows defenders in the deck chairs, this will give diminutive Eagle forward Phil 'the wrong' Matera the chance to take some spectacular hangers. Eagles by 28 points.
PORT v SYDNEY
With the mullet killer Leo Barry in doubt and Josh Carr back to give Port some drive in midfield this is looking like a Port victory. Port would be stiff if Chad Cornes doesn't pull up with his groin injury but the Swans might all have sore shoulders after patting themselves on the back for halting the Saint juggernaught last week. I reckon the Swans will be fiddling about in the deep pockets of Girlee Stadium and that there might not be a good option to stop Warren Tredrea from putting his foot down. Port by 26 points.
GEELONG V KANGAROOS
Forgotten Roo Jessica Sinclair will turn back the clock to be this week's 'Thump Lingy' rising star nomination. Cameron Ling will shake his head, wipe the blood of his face, admire the latest lump on his ugly looking head and come back for some more second half domination. Sav Rocca and Corey McKernan will go kickless up forward as both are so slow that Matty Scarlet has time to man up on both of em, leaving Tomcat Harley free to run the ball into the cat forward lines. Paul Chapman will bend at the knees while being tackled and grab another swag of free kicks. Cats to lead by 50 at one stage but win by only 9 points at Cat Park.
RICHMOND V FREMANTLE
Sorry Tigers, I'm going to pick you again. While it is true that Bitchmond are an appalling rabble, it will be the football gods that will come to their aid this weekend. The rain will come down and it will wash away what is left of Fremantle's fragile confidence. Freo has NEVER beaten Richmond at the G so, yes, Richmond is carp but they always have been and Freo still hasn't been able to beat them. Without a shred of confidence, but more than both sides have at the mo I say Richmond by 11 points in the stinker of the round.
MELBOURNE V COLLINGWOOD
Traditionally, Collingwood has cleaned up big time against the Demons on the Queen's birthday but this year it will be a Regal comeuppance for the Magpies who have been winning but not thrilling the football world in recent weeks. Jeff White will dominate another match and when White dominates so do Melbourne. The Demons look the real deal this season but I wouldn't back Collingwood without Chris Tarrant with your money. Melbourne by 31 points.
regards,
REB

Critical games for a few clubs if they loose. I would not like to be in the shoes of Carlton, Collingwood, Port or Fremantle if they do not win. Would really split the comp into three, the premiership between Brisbane Essendon, or St Kilda and really only Melbourne and Port worth a mention from the rest, and everybody else fighting for a ticket to the first week of the finals and no further.
PS. The Lions start is all important, the close games they've lost the at the Dome have all been about fighting back from poor starts - well starts not as good as they have at the 'ttior anyway.
Enjoy the weekend folks.

Western Bulldogs v St Kilda - St Kilda
West Coast Eagles v Adelaide – Eagles at Subi
Port Adelaide v Sydney Swans – no hustling from Paul Roos this week, might be no cunning plan either after the big win last week. Port at home.
Brisbane v Essendon – Brisbane (can't believe the sanctimonious twaddle emanating from Essendon this week).
Geelong v Kangaroos – Geelong.
Richmond v Fremantle – Freo, surely.
Melbourne v Collingwood – Melbourne.

For that, Lions by 50. Loss of Murphy will hurt the Bombers more than they imagine...

He once hit a target in a big game and now the press thinks he can do it regularly. Wait until he dons your club's jumper (which is a chance in the future) and then you'll notice how lazy he is and how many apple turnovers he bakes up.
Chrisso, do you still rate him? He was no loss at Catland let me tell you.

When we drafted both he and Allan I was seriously doubting the sanity of some of the people in our football department.
I am happy to say they have both been sensational and Allan has turned into our first choice ruckman! Cant believe it! Everything they have done has been a bonus in my eyes because I was expecting nothing.

In just a couple of hours on Saturday night, Brisbane completely and utterly changed the complexion of an AFL season that had been three months in the making.
Nuff said.

Did anyone see a piece of play in the third quarter where Voss was chasing the ball with McPhee, got rid of him with a beautiful bump the picked up the ball clean as a whistle, on the run, and then gave the perfect hand-ball to a team mate who then goaled. My God.

Great 1st half of footy and then I don't think Brisbane stepped up just that Essendon fell away a bit and when the standard of footy had been so high you can look pretty ordinary very quickly. Real test for Essendon will be against the D's, a lost there and then Brisbane's win comes into prespective. (D's have just gone 9 points up in the last quarter)

Our first quarter and a half was the best footy we have played all year and the game changed when the Fletch and Peverill incident occured, Brisbane got a real lift from that and the way they all ran up to the kid to say well done sums up why the Lions are so good. Teamwork and bravery.

"they all ran up to the kid to say well done sums up why the Lions are so good. Teamwork and bravery. "
Interesting you notice this Chrisso, thought we we've the only ones who give this behaviour any credit. I was astounded yesterday watching the Melbourne vs Collingwood game. Aaron Davey seemed to be playing by himself at times. No support coming from his team mates. Melbourne players spent a lot of time winning the ball and moving it on with no team support - amased they won!
