Lucy - it's over!

Sorry Gorilla girl but your blokes dynasty will end this season. A fully fit and inform Lion outfit is still the best bet in the race but that's not what we are seeing at the moment and Lethal has precious little time to get it right.

Usually at this time of the year the Lie ins are a smooth running machine. An even, hardened, match-fit and highly motivated combination that has quite rightly been named as one of the best, if not the best of all time.

However, in recent matches the loss of a mere two players has seriously destabilised football's colossos. In the past men such as Bradshaw, Vossy and Leppa have stepped up when Lethal has given Big Al the week off or Jonno has belted someone (LOL) but I sense the Lions have lost that hunger.

I watched what I think will be this year's premiership side play yesterday. St Kilda have emerged from a mini slump to power past a competent Roos combination in what was truly an awesome spectacle. I know that Saints have a shite record away from the DomeAss but if they can replicate the form of yesterday in September, then I can see the Saints lifting this years' cup against either Port or Geelong. That's right, I'm predicting a Lion-free grand final.

Ducking for cover,

And you are entitled to your opinion REB (however wrong!!!lol) I think this weekend will show whether or not we still have the right degree of hunger. St Kilda on just be us earlier in the year at the Bubbleground - and that with some dodgy umpiring decisions. We also were missing several players. Lynchie is also due back this week, so a forward line, a backline and and awesome midfield.

If the unthinkable (for me) happens and we don't make the GF I'll still be there pre-season and all through the season screaming 'em on!

No need to duck for cover by the way - I wouldn't bother aiming for your head! lol

Write off Brisbane at your peril.

chrisso (chrisso), Monday, 16 August 2004 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes it will be an interesting match up at the Gabbatoir this weekend that's for sure. BTW Chrisso....you are a big wuss LOL.

chrisso (chrisso), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Very true - AND champion supporters.. We are the Champions, We are the Champions, We are the Champions.... of the world!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Sunday will reveal alot for both teams REB.

Should be nice and warm too, unless you southern bastards send up some cold winds.

As it stands now I think
Port - favourites
Geelong/Brisbane - contenders
St Kilda/Melbourne et al - dreamin'

Big Bird (Big Bird), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I think anything other than rarified atmosphere will give Saints a hard time!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I suspect a few people still suspicious of St Kilda's finals prospects are making the classic 'Wheels' mistake: looking at the badge on top of the bonnet instead of the engine underneath it.

They showed signs on Sunday they may be getting back to their May-June best, there are still a couple of handy players to come in, and there are still enough blokes left over from their 97-98 campaigns (Harvey, Jones, Hughton), plus the experience with other clubs of the likes of Hamill, Gehrig and Voss, to zero concerns about big-time experience.

Good morning REB, I believe these were your words! While I'm not saying we are at the GF yet, we're not looking too bad. What a game, how good is Martin Pike? How good is Simon Black, Nigel Lappin, Chris Scott? And the rest of the team? AND Brad Scott played in the 2's and is looking pretty good.

However, being a kind and considerate soul I will not rub this in any longer (just now) and I wont mention my prediction of the Crows thumping the CATS!!!!!!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Sunday, 22 August 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

LOL. It WAS a good morning until I read your post ha ha. But bragging about the Cows?? Sheesh. Even me with my woefull tipping form could see that one coming.

Fremantle also looked tres flat after the slog at Cat Park. Your wet weather outing at the G was a walk in the park by comparison as Round 21 results might tend to suggest.

That Neil Craig is a top poker face liar though. Before the match he said last weeks conditons wouldn't be a factor and that matches in the slop aren't necessary tougher but the tackle counts might suggest otherwise and last weeks game at Girlee was easily our flatest performance of the year.

REB what do you think your chances against Essendon at the MCG? I reckon you've got better than a 50% chance.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Depends on what happens at the Tribunal Luce. If Moons and Kingsley get rubbed out we could be in strife. Kingsley especially as he has a good record against the Bombers.

They both deserve a week.

chrisso (chrisso), Monday, 6 September 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Kingsley also has a good record at the tribunal but Moons could be a bit dark...
