Round 20

Back in Nagasaki
I got married to Cho Cho San
that was her name
Back in those days and I was her man.
I'm going back to visit her
she got a problem

She got a little Cho Cho
Cho Cho San was her name

And this is her tale of woe
take it away Cho Cho.

Today's the day I see clear
a tiny thread of smoke appears

Where blue skies border on the ocean and a ship is set in motion.
All the while I sing this song I see a dot on the horizon

Growing bigger every second gleaming white in my direction.

Who on Earth can it be coming up the path for me?
What on Earth will he say
shall I run to him or run away?
Freaking out he's come to get me
my feet are stuck and just won't let me.
Run to him do I dare
Madam Butterfly
don't blow it.

Calling Butterfly
Madam Butterfly

That's the name he used to give me
he's my man 'til the day I die.
Oh
sweet Butterfly
so sweet Butterfly
she's waiting

He'll be back
I have faith in this love track.
Pinkerton's the name
Lieutenant Colonel Pinkerton
Sir!
U.S. Navy
I'm a bounder
I married a Yankee girl

But I went back to visit old Japan
where there she was
Cho Cho San.

Gotta have something to believe in
my white honky
I do miss him.
Someday soon he'll come around just to stop my nenrous breakdown.
Call me fool ! Call me stupid ! Bend this arrow
kill this cupid.
Say it with me
he'll be back
I have faith in this love track.
Calling Butterfly
Madam Butterfly
. . .
Little sweet
sweet Butterfly
I hear him crowing faintly

Thinks I'm stilljust sweet sixteen
I guess I'll tease him gently.
Calling Madam Butterfly
his angel plucked right from the sky

Hide my baby in strange places
I feel the fear that I might die.
Right in his arms and his embraces softly kissing my eyelashes

Got no right
no right to doubt it
ain't no doubt
no doubt about it.
Call me fool! Call me stupid! Bend this arrow
kill this cupid.
I have faith I'll always pray my white honky's here to stay.
Call me Butterfly
Madam Butterfly

Butterfly
Butterfly
have no fear
I'll be back to wipe your tears.
Oh
sweet Butterfly
so sweet Butterfly
she's waiting.
I will wait for him with unshakable faith. He'll be back - He'll be back.

Hmmm, not familiar with that one.

Speaking of not being familiar..time to try and tip some winners for a change.

FREO by 15: To make Jase smile for the only time this weekend.
CATS: Sheesh...I hope!
COLLINGWOOD: Cripes, who knows with this one?
SWANS: Lions limping into September??
COWS: Power ordinary..they even lost to Geelong (twice!).
SAINTS: On a bit of a Sausage Roll, probably get done on Prelim final day like last year.
ESSENDON: They've actually got some forwards to kick to.
BULLDOGS: Hard to tip against them here, so I won't!

Cheers,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Thursday, 11 August 2005 01:16 (twenty years ago)

West Coast
St Kilda
Adelaide
Carlton (Pies - no Tarrant, Rocca, Caracella, Didak)
Brisbane
Geelong
Essendon
Bulldogs

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 11 August 2005 07:41 (twenty years ago)

chrisso, first the Pistols and now Malcome Mc, what next Buffalo Gals.

"all that scratching is making me itch!"

West Coast Eagles (34)
Geelong Cats
St Kilda Saints
Collingwood Magpies
Adelaide Crows
Sydney South Melbourne Football Club Swans
Essendon Bombers
Footscray FC trading as the Wetern Bulldogs

Big Bird (Big Bird), Thursday, 11 August 2005 23:05 (twenty years ago)

WEST COAST (18) - Freo just aint that good and the opposition's form line going into the game, for once, isn't an unbroken line of L's

GEELONG - in slightly less diabolical form

ST KILDA - winning more convincingly against better teams

CARLTON - if they don't get stage fright going in favorite

ADELAIDE - the MOTN to get up in 'Showdown XVWhatever', or 'Showdown Which Anybody Outside Adelaide Need Give A Rats Arse About I'

SYDNEY - Brisbane are looking at their earliest season finish for ages

ESSENDON - although a Hawk win would not surprise. The Sheedmeisters hold the fate of the wooden spoon, playing both Hawthorn and Carlton in the next two weeks and if they lose both it puts Collingwood square in the frame

BULLDOGS - Richmod can't beat them but there is some chance they might beat themselves. Hope the lid's still on Rocket!

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 12 August 2005 03:11 (twenty years ago)

Eagles - because they need to - 27 points
Roos - because I want them to
Cats - because they have to
Pies - because they will
Crows - because PAP can't
Lions because they can
Bombers - because who cares
Bullies - because they're playing Tiges.

Westener (Westener), Friday, 12 August 2005 08:57 (twenty years ago)

Why did I tip Freo again??????? (or did I in this comp - hmmm)

West Coast are ok, Freo are pretenders.
What is going on at Geelong? Don't deserve to make the finals
Saints are doing everything right, as are the crows.
The Pies are diabolical. Far, far too many passengers. Get a great big f**king axe and start swinging. And if it takes out Malthouse, he's just a victim of 'the war on (skill) errors'.
Carlton again have some hope.
Nasty injury to Lappin today, Swans are the real deal.
Good to see the Bombers get rolled, and the Bullies - well everyone wants to see them keep going. And they are one team that might be able to win anywhere in the country with their never say die attitude...

Now, as long as the Pies don't win the spoon...

Bennö (Bennö), Sunday, 14 August 2005 09:31 (twenty years ago)

From round 20 IMHO there are no only 3 geniune premiership contenders being West Caost, Saint and Swans.

Whilst we lost the unlosable game to the cows, seeing them live for the first time, they are junk, any wonder they have the best defence, their defence usually consists of 15 blokes, no wonder no-one else gives rutten and bock any credit not hard to beat the best forwards with the help of 5 others.

Fremantle once again proved they are absolute rubbish, they are weakest side without question in the AFL, they have the largest collection of blokes paid the most yet are the softest in the league. Good move connelly why tag judd, you creton.

Collingwood, playing dead to gain a couple of priority picks to waste on more shaws and clokes.

Sydney are the team to beat, got a couple of game styles that will be able to handle the saints and west coast.

jsa, Sunday, 14 August 2005 22:07 (twenty years ago)

Saints. Agree on the Crows. Ugliest style in the league. If they had our (or Richmond, Melbourne, Freo's) injury list they would down in Hawthorn country.

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Monday, 15 August 2005 01:17 (twenty years ago)

Freo are indeed crap and they went to water as soon as their lucky draw ran out, which it was bound to eventually seeing as half the teams win each week and so not everybody can lose five in a row.

Jase, I don't think Collingwood are 'playing' anything ATM and Carlton may have looked OK beating them but there's no gaurantee that form will be good enough to win us another game. Our defence still leaks like a Beazley caucus meeting and on Saturday night an attack centred around a bloke on one leg playing out of position, playing to a thrashed midfield, went within a goal of kicking the eighth or ninth century against Carlton on the trot. Lloyd and Lucas must be licking their lips already.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 15 August 2005 01:58 (twenty years ago)

From what i saw last week Fred, carlton arent the worst side going around, that honour falls to collingwood, the team that wont change its colours as its the greatest team ever, what a load of cobblers.... They are in the Freo class of overrated teams.

As for freo take pavlich out, who surely in the next 2 years will be gorn, they are unbelievably ordinary, i suppose they did have there greatest win ever this year, they played somebody in an important round 5 clash.

jsa, Monday, 15 August 2005 02:55 (twenty years ago)

Devastated with Lappin's broken leg. Mal Michael broken finger. What an awful awful game, hated every minute of it. Only saving grace was Mal Michael coming forward to kick a goal and Lanne Spaanderman kicking a goal. Akermanis was obviously still injured, Lapping not well even before he broke his leg. Luke Power had an ordinary day, Lost Jed Adcock in the first 5 minutes, awful awful game.

I'd rather have lost by 100 points then loose Lappin and Michael and Adcock.

Come on Lucy get your act together find some positives.... she thinks long and hard Charman comes back this weekend, Jonathan Brown will play against Port Adelaide, Marty Pask kick 10 goals in the AFLQ (maybe he wants a game). Brennan should be better for the time on the ground. Port Adelaide dont' have anyone nearly as good as Barry Hall in fact no one does. Barry Hall for the Coleman and the Swans Captancy - she thinks again Maybe Barry could come and play for the Lions next year.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 15 August 2005 05:10 (twenty years ago)

Ummm how bout tredrea, perhaps you better stop thinking lucy

jsa, Monday, 15 August 2005 05:21 (twenty years ago)

LOL

chrisso (chrisso), Monday, 15 August 2005 07:33 (twenty years ago)

How about Tredrea? Not a name that rolls off the tongue for me.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 05:01 (twenty years ago)

Geez Lucy, Tredrea is the reigning Premiership CHF.
And All Australian
And arguably the 2nd most dominant CHF in the country behind a fit J Brown

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 08:12 (twenty years ago)

Sums up footy knowledge in Queensland

jsa, Tuesday, 16 August 2005 22:37 (twenty years ago)

Soeey boys but Barry Hall I'd like at the Lions - not Tredrea. Never said he isn't a good CHF just dont need or want him at my club. But Barry Hall and Jonathan Brown lined up together and even Bradshaw when he's firing - not bad:)

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 05:32 (twenty years ago)

Tredrae has been cod-ordinary away from AAMI this year.

chrisso (chrisso), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 09:39 (twenty years ago)

Right on, chrisso. It's like as if he is disinterested. I wonder how true the rumours of his disenchantment with PAP are?

Is it possible that he may seek greener fields?

Westener (Westener), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 11:08 (twenty years ago)

Lap up that Victorian bullshit. Warren will never leave the Power.

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Wednesday, 17 August 2005 21:00 (twenty years ago)

whether home or away being able to get on the field means he's got brown covered.
