Know of any good books on ghost towns, or towns destroyed by extraordinary events?

After reading about what occured in places like Centralia and Utopia (the Ohio one), this subject really interests me, and I was wondering if the ILB crew could give me any pointers in this direction regarding good reads?

Any highly informative books on the subject in general are appreciated, but I would be extremely happy if there were any good ones on singular cases like the ones listed above.

I only know the British Versions thereof... The Lost Villages Of Britain and The Town That Died For England and stuff like that.

Those sound great! More, if you have them.

Sorry, I got the countries the wrong way around. The Lost Villages of England covers everything from Deserted Medieval Villages lost to plague and sheep farming to villages that were swallowed by the sea.

I can't seem to find the other book about Tyneham - it might be out of print (or it might have been self published, but I know it exists, my Imber-obsessed ex had a copy.) Both Tyneham and Imber were taken over by the MoD during WWII and destroyed during training exercises.

two weeks pass...
Ghost Town by robert coover is pretty good, and it's, obviously, about a ghost town.

The towns near Chernobyl would be a good subject for this sort of book. I vaguely recall seeing a book on this subject reviewed a couple of years ago.
