How many books do you carry on your person during the day??

I haul a canvas bookbag every work day. Besides the day planner I have any where from 2 to 6 books I'm hauling. I usually read a little
from each during the commute or the course of the day. When I
was reading TRUMAN by David McCullough I hauled just that title.
I do not leave the house without something to read.

Am I alone in this? Am I crazy? I'm curious to read about the haul-n-read habits of others.

I usually carry the current book I'm reading and a copy of a book magazine/newspaper (Daedalus sale paper ususally). In my car, I keep 4-5 "emergency reads," which are paperback versions of my favorite books. In case I'm stuck anywhere without anything interesting to read, which has happened twice now :) Oh, I also have a second book usually going and stuck in my drawer at work for breaks/lunch.

Are you kidding? Why would anyone go anywhere without at least one book to read? You never know when you might be stuck in a line and need something to keep you from looking at those around you and thinking, "Is this what the human race has evolved into?" I never buy a purse unless it is at least big enough to fit the essentials AND a paperback.

I always try and carry something to read woth me at all times...there is nothing more frustrating being stuck somewhere (docs office, in line during car pool) without something to read...

Should any of you consider leaving the space demarcated roughly by your eyes and ears (that is, your headspace), you would be able to actually use your eyes ears and mouth and engage with people. You know, ones that aren't of type and page compact. Since writers generally write about the real world, I find it's nice to be in contact with it, just to get the gist of what their writing about.
