you can now use the Bookmark facility so the thread only loads from whichever post you chose to bookmark it with. geddit?

how about NO. in two weeks start a season 4 anticipation thread but for now leave it. isn't it nice to have everything in one place? think of the history.

seems silly now we have the Bookmark thing. i guess not enough people were aware of that. i'm not too bothered really tho.

Just from a technical point of view, ideally I wouldn't want to have absolutely huge threads. Although you can (from an individual perspective) make it ignore these, the server does still keep the whole lot in memory, which is pretty much using up memory all the time even although people aren't using it, and we only have a finite amount of memory.

It's not really any sort of issue now, nor for the forseeable future, but I wouldn't want things to just keep growing and growing until it can't support it any more.

I could do something about it, ultimately, if it were necessary, but starting another thread is an easier way to do something about it that requires no work.

aye but that thread was gonna wrap up pretty soon anyway. future Lost threads are unlikely to be quite so lengthy anyway (less episodes per season for one thing).

well season 3 is over, what are you waiting on to wrap it up?

Also surely any anticipation and speculation for the next season will involve discussing previous ones.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but it seems to me like the best idea would be to keep the Season 3 thread open to discuss the finale specifically and have the Anticipation thread also available to, um, anticipate. Within a few days, as people watch the episode, the S3 thread will naturally die out and people will migrate to the Anticipation thread.
