IT WAS A ADVERT FOR A MANCHESTER CURRY HOUSE ... THE DUDE WAS SORT OF RAPPING OVER IT ABOUT HOW AWESOME HIS CURRY HOUSE WAS. YOU SAID YOU HAD THAT SONG AND TOLD ME WHO IT WAS BY. WHO WAS IT GARETH?

IF YOU ARE STUCK I'LL TYPE IT OUT. I WANT/NEED/OBSESSING OVER GETTING THIS, YOU SEE.

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Sunday, 21 November 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i just got back from manchester 15 minutes ago, weirdly enough. it was for a curry house in rusholme wasnt it? this is bugging me too now, i can't think where i heard this, the memory is quite vague. i'll have to search around for it, and maybe ask some manchester people if they know

*@*.* (gareth), Sunday, 21 November 2004 23:49 (twenty-one years ago)

its so vague, its irritating me. i know ive heard this, but i just cant remember the context

*@*.* (gareth), Sunday, 21 November 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll type it out ... i typed it out on soulseek and you were going: 'yeah, that's it ... its this and i've got it'.

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Monday, 22 November 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i know where it is now, i'll have to check when i get home. its so annoying when something is on edge of brain, but you cant quite think what it is

*@*.* (gareth), Monday, 22 November 2004 11:03 (twenty-one years ago)

doomie, i got this other cherrystone's mix: "entertaining the unobvious"

you hearded this?

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 22 November 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

the weird probably-a-front-for-mafia-activities "wine bar" near my house has a big sign advertising dj cutty. it always makes me a little sad when i see it.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

DJ CUTTY? impostor!

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 22 November 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i know. ain't nothing like the real thing.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah the cherrystones mix is fab. i'm using poptones.co.uk to broadcast his activities as he is doing diy with cdrs and such. but its really good, ain't it?

check this out... neil from vibracathedral is a really nice guy. and stephen from telescopes is hyping me to doom it up with fuxa. have you heard fuxa? anyone help? should i interview him?A

http://www.poptones.co.uk/interviews/qod_neil_campbell_vibracathedral.htm

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Monday, 22 November 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i used to really like fuxa, back in college. i probably still would. give it a listen.. you'd probably be into it.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah am going to hunt that down. i think exposing the libertines teenagers to noise and french pop is very cool.

am trying to get the mp3 blog going. its super popular. but now i think i need something else. the telescopes might give me something tonight!

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Monday, 22 November 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

neato! good luck.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

cool. did you get in contact with cherrystones, lauren? i asked him out of curiousity how many mixes he sold from the site. he said - 60. after a couple of weeks - that's like 600 quid straight to pocket. this cdr business is pretty cool. cuts out the middleman and the record company.

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Monday, 22 November 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

argh, i never did. that needs to go on the top of the afternoon's to-do list. speaking of things to do.. i want to make sure that you're on our promo list (when we actually get around to mailouts is a bit up in the air) so email me contact info sometime.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

how do i order cd-r's from cherrystones again?

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 22 November 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

just email him at [email protected] ... but if you've got that mix, its the same one. i think he is working on anotehr mix. bug him about it.

lauren, i'll shoot you an email, like err, now...!

i pissed off a guy in a charity shop. he was putting out some cds. i spy a couple of things - like first calexico and first galaxie 500 cds. i say: how much. he goes: five quid (???? am against charging more than three quid at charity shop ... if i wanted to spend more i would spend less time going through the shop and just go onto amazon or my local record shop). i say: 'let's leave these here then.' he yells out 'bloody americans, ungrateful' 'i'm canadian FOR FUCKSSAKES...'

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Monday, 22 November 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

does your version of the mix have a weird volume swell at one point?

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 22 November 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

no.... i'll check, when does yours swell?

OOO-ERRR...

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Monday, 22 November 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

whenever lauren looks at it.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 22 November 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha...

lauren, i sent you some mail with my address details. december is so dead for indies. its depressing. the only magazine stuff i have lined up to write about is happening in january....

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Monday, 22 November 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm crossing all my fingers that something is ready to go for december, but realistically it might be january.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

ps - cutty, you nasty.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 22 November 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i dont know, i checked the tape i thought this might be on, but there was nothing like this on it. my tapes are in disarray, and in 3 locations, i really need to sort through them, and start mp3ing some things. i think i'll have to wade through my tape box next time i go home, see if its on one of them. if not, i just dont know, this is really bugging me now!

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i picked up the steve & stevie album in king bee records, in chorlton, the other day. i havent played it yet though

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

gareth, could you make me a dub copy of terry durham? would that be possible?

has anyone heard of jack rose. he is currently blowing me away.

i bought a copy of paul weller's wildwood for a pound. i wanted to really like it still, but i didn't. sigh.

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll burn it onto cd later this week, no problem

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT TERRY DURHAM. THANKS.

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

OOoo ... thanks, Gareth.

When I get my laptop - my collection is for your disposal.

doomie the saint (jimmy the sainted kid of death), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

that would be good.

sorry cutty, i meant to answer before. terry durham made the lp, shown above, in around 1969 (though the music is mainly by someone called john coleman, durham was a painter and a poet rather than a musician). evan parker plays on the lp, but it doesnt really sound like something he'd be on (though i know little about parker to be honest)

the lp is pretty varied, i thought it might be sort of yorkshire serge gainsbourg painted-pop, like the title song, but much of it isnt. fryston main is a eulogy to the pit (near kippax, c-lido fans!) over brass bands (brighouse and raistrick style)

perhaps you would like a copy too?

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

cough.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, yea, alright. i owe you that mix cd too, that i promised the otehr week.

drinx tonite?

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh! yeah. that could work.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

mtg phil in town in about an hour for shopping, then probably back to n4. maybe we'll meet stace in old street later?

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, give me a shout later on

*@*.* (gareth), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

three months pass...
