yes that sounds like a good idea. i loooooove heldon! plus richard pinhas is such a stud.

killy (baby lenin pin), Sunday, 26 March 2006 02:12 (twenty years ago)

dominique, are you a man or a woman? i commented on pinhas' studliness b/c i was thinking i had found a girl to share my girly thoughts with, but maybe you're not a girl.

killy (baby lenin pin), Sunday, 26 March 2006 02:17 (twenty years ago)

tell me about heldon

i remember getting confused about marc acardipane and sonic youth, on acid

ugh, i just remember, we went to see spiritualized once, in buckley, north wales, this guy drove back to leeds on acid, it was about 100 miles or so, you shuoldnt really do that on acid

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 02:57 (twenty years ago)

although i guess it was better than when i was hitchhiking back from london on acid, and a guy emerged from the bushes at the bottom of the m1

luckily, he was just a sunderland fan

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 02:58 (twenty years ago)

i listened to heldon "stand by" in a store recently and was not that into it. kinda tangerine dreamy with a heavy rock vibe at times

smokemon (eman), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:49 (twenty years ago)

yeah i really think the earliest stuff is better. this website has samples from the various albums: http://cuneiformrecords.com/bandshtml/pinhas.html

killy (baby lenin pin), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:55 (twenty years ago)

but Chronolyse is better than any Heldon album.

killy (baby lenin pin), Sunday, 26 March 2006 03:57 (twenty years ago)

dominique = the sexiest ilxor

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 26 March 2006 05:29 (twenty years ago)

i usually like all music on acid. i remember jamaraquai sounding like god once

chaki (chaki), Sunday, 26 March 2006 05:29 (twenty years ago)

yeah I kinda think HEldon is obv amzing but then again he ain't all that ... continental Euro synth-wise -- Battiato is WAAAY better.. plus being Italian swarthier and therefore definitely studlier -- we are talking BIG TIME chesthair -- I think Sulle Corde de Aires slays any Heldon I've heard ...

but hey, italians make better movies too

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 26 March 2006 08:50 (twenty years ago)

not on acid right now but i'm listening to an old 90s jungle mix and i swear the gas heating unit is growling and banging along to it in time.

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 26 March 2006 09:12 (twenty years ago)

tell me dillinja the angels fell is on it. i love the way it falls over itself

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 26 March 2006 09:44 (twenty years ago)

yeah sulle corde de aires does slay any heldon! but i do think anything pinhas-related on acid must be somethin' nuts. although my fave LSD listening experience was Van Dyke Parks Song Cycle.

killy (baby lenin pin), Sunday, 26 March 2006 14:04 (twenty years ago)

battiato / pinhas way too different for me to compare, even when battiato goes for minimal sprawl

my favorite of all the pinhas/heldon is still his last two solo albums before the hiatus, iceland for drones and l'ethique for rock metrics I think I will listen to pinhas now

milton parker (Jon L), Sunday, 26 March 2006 21:42 (twenty years ago)

milton parker (Jon L), Sunday, 26 March 2006 22:13 (twenty years ago)

totally out of print, if you can find a copy don't think twice

milton parker (Jon L), Sunday, 26 March 2006 22:17 (twenty years ago)

L'Ethique Part 1, Melodic Simple Transition

I'd ysi more Heldon but all their best moments are 15-20+ minute long album tracks, you really just have to get all of interface

milton parker (Jon L), Sunday, 26 March 2006 22:49 (twenty years ago)

thank you sir

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 26 March 2006 22:51 (twenty years ago)

chris gave me a bunch of the heldon albums on mp3 a while back. i used to be more into this kind of music when i was first discovering synthesizers, but it's good.

send your men of science quick (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 26 March 2006 23:03 (twenty years ago)

It is a rite of passage in my circle to play Heldon's Interface while tripping on acid. If you can make it through that with sanity intact, you are truly a mensch.

convinced that autechre's 'surripere' (the long center of draft 7.30) is paying homage to 'iceland part 3'
